Gov. Patrick slammed the government shutdown today and House Republicans, saying Massachusetts will suffer while politicians hold the government hostage.
Along with national parks and monuments, 22 Head Start programs in the state will close because of the shutdown and the payment status of 4,000 state workers who are paid in whole or in part by federal grants is up in the air, Patrick said.
Those kids are out while the minority and the House like everything about Obamacare, actually, except the Obama part but want to shut down the government, he said
The governor said the state would determine the short-term future of those 4, 000 workers soon.

Maybe state government should fund their own workers with their own tax revenues.

Guess Mass. needs to get off the “dole” and start using some of the “Taxachussetts” revenue to pay for those “necessities”.

Believe me, anyone that ever took part in a head start program is not now nor ever will be a Republican voter. At least not 95% of them, if you catch my drift!

My mother worked for head start for some 20 odd years and she’s calling BS on this. The states get their grant money for head start quarterly (Mom used to write the grant requests) and should be good to go for at least a month.
She tells me that through some 17 govt shutdowns, she never once missed a paycheck or was furloughed.

That’s not how vassal states work. You have to pay the tribute first then stay in the Master’s good graces.

Well, I am either shocked or appalled. Either way, look around to the next 95 out of 100 and they are not voting Republican.
