President Barack Obama summoned congressional leaders to the White House on the second day of a partial government shutdown that has furloughed hundreds of thousands of workers and closed military cemeteries as far away as France. Republican leaders welcomed the Wednesday afternoon meeting but questioned whether Democrats were ready to deal.

Well, I’m sure both subjects will be discussed.
Keeping the partial funding bill out of the senate and off Obama’s desk will be ‘the elephant in the room’ re both subjects.
Hope Boehner doesn’t let him off the hook on the shutdown in exchange for a debt limit deal- which is IMHO what he wants today.
"We've got to protect our phony baloney jobs, gentlemen! We must do something about this shutdown, immediately, immediately, immediately!!!"
He is going to play them both. You watch.
He will claim he and all four Leaders agreed that they could hammer out a deal but that the “Tea Bagger Wing” will not, so even if they did it would fail in the house.
Pitting Boehner and Mitch against the Conservatives.
Boner said last Winter he would never negotiate with the Jug Eared fraud again. SO DON’T!
FOX NEWS is reporting that WH sources are saying that Obama will reiterate to them, “Clean Bill or nothing.”
I think we should shut the water, gas and electric off to the White House.
I am publishing Cantor’s tweet everywhere I can.I suggest everyone do the same, even on the most innocuous sites..get it OUT!
Oh yeah...and 0bama’s blackberry too, no golf either or world flights to foreign lands...
Well then, if Obama is going to take the “my way or the highway approach”, there is no sense in even going to the meeting.
Pass the small CRs and go on.
And McConnell should send Ted Cruz and Mike Lee to the meeting on behalf of the Republican leadership, have microphones in there, and let’s hear the tin-hat dictator say that he will not sign any of the small CRs. Put Obama on record.
I have this vision actually for some time now. I picture meetings of this sort that occur from time to time between the president and anyone in authority other than his “yes” people.
I am quite sure that Obama meetings come across as this amateur who sits there and knows nothing about anything. I think he avoids these meetings because it exposes him to the people there as being the total inept person he is.
I am sure eventually it will come out. Stories of things he has said that were off the wall, but the attendees keep silent not to come across as racist to the press.
We have president in office who is a totally unfit for the job who was not remotely qualified. Few people are.
This meeting will be a monologue. Boehner and company I would think need to stand firm.
He’ll probably have pictures of their families, “nice family you have there, ....”
The man-child is going to try and berate everyone into submission. He’s going to get up there, say “I won”, and do a victory dance. He can’t deal with opposition, and he cannot forge compromise.
He is a street thug, nothing more.
“..think the WW2 VETS hit a nerve yesterday and AGAIN TODAY...pictures of old guys in wheelchairs were NOT ALLOWED ON AN OPEN SIDEWALK...didnt make Odungo look good....he caved, no mounted police to enforce Odungos wishes this AM...tho the threat WAS THERE LAST NIGHT. *smiles*..THEY CAME ANYWAY...”
I agree! I think those vets save us yet again!
WE owe them so very much! I wish the Conservative talking heads would pay them some extra respect!
WWII vets know how to deal with fascist asshats.
He’s not talking to the real leaders. Smell under the table deal already made.
This whole show is a dog and pony show. The idea that Obama will cave here is laughable.
Put stipulations on any negotiation. For example, due to the fact that Democrats have recently displayed contempt for the process of closed-door negotiations, all negotiations must be held with full television coverage. Things like that.
Make any demands reasonable, but make Obama have to work for any negotiation.
exactly, this is all about him now saying he tried to talk but the GOP won’t budge and will hold the people ransom.
He knew by saying he would not talk would look bad thus he now meets but has nothing new to bring
Fox News just reported that Lee is “rethinking” the shutdown but then again that is FAUX News. I doubt it, but who knows?
Sen. Mike Lee not backing down from Obamacare fight despite shutdown impacts
