U.S. Is Poised to Overtake Russia as Largest Oil-and-Gas Producer
By RUSSELL GOLD and DANIEL GILBERT CONNECT
The U.S. is poised to overtake Russia as the world's single largest producer of oil and natural gas combined this year, a startling shift that is reshaping energy markets and eroding the clout of traditional petroleum-rich nations.
Shale-rock formations of oil and natural gas have fueled a comeback for the U.S. that was unimaginable a decade ago. Russia meanwhile has struggled to maintain its energy output and has yet to embrace the technologies such as hydraulic fracturing that have boosted U.S. reserves.
The increase of U.S. energy output in recent years has been widely discussed. But a Wall Street Journal analysis of global data shows that the country is on track to pass Russia as the world's largest producer of oil and gas this yearif it hasn't already.

Outstanding, America!
When the liberals squeal louder, you know they are actually afraid~!
Just think where we would be if we could get the Federal government out of the way.
WE’RE TAKIN’ OVER RUSSIA!
At least that’s how that headline reads to me at first, lol.
Gas prices will increase about $1 per gallon by 2015 and take a $550 billion bite out of Americans take-home pay when the Environmental Protection Agencys (EPA) Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) increases the ethanol mandate past the 10 percent blend wall.
Ethanol destroys engines. It probably does not save us any energy either.
Gee, just wait till we have a President who can leverage that into some influence on the world stage. Why, we might become a superpower!
The amazing fact is that we have made these gains under the Obama regime.
Barry got Fracked and didn’t even know it.
Does Russia have many/any shale areas that would supply more oil by fracturing?
The Epa and Obama’s goons will never let it happen.
I’m not a fan of the ethanol program, but if ethanol is destroying engines, why is the average age of vehicles on the road at an all time high?
Depending on how much ethanol is in the mixture and environmental conditions:

Why engines are living longer? Modern manufacturing techniques and service plans, perhaps.
There’s a reason why people seek out gas without ethanol (E0).
We run the best possible durability test here in the US.
2.7 trillion vehicle miles per year.
Over 80% of it on E10.
Vehicle life is actually increasing.
People seek out E0 because it gives better mpg, not because of durability.
The only way to know for sure would be to test both. I suspect that cars run exclusively on E0 would last longer, function better, and get better gas mileage as you said. Almost all the gas in Texas, at least where I live, is E10. The EPA wants to go E15. Probably not a good idea either.
Ethanol is most just a stimulus plan for farmers and environmentalists. Again, IMHO.
Amazing, the history books will now have two good things to say about Obama’s legacy. This and Bin Laden.
I’m not arguing the politics, I just don’t believe the FReepers who continually yell “ethanol destroys engines”.
I have a barn full of old stuff that has run on E10 for 20+ years.
They wouldn't oppose it if they didn't understand that. The main goal of leftists is to make Americans poor.
Somewhere there was a report that an area in far eastern Siberia has similar shale deposits that dwarf what is in America. With all the theft of American technology in which they engage I am surprised the ruskies are not all over this.
