A student at a high school in Anaheim Hills said administrators ordered her to change out of a T-shirt that promoted the National Rifle Association.
Sophomore Haley Bullwinkle said when she wore her NRA shirt to Canyon High School last month, she landed in the principals office for violating the schools dress code that forbids offensive, violent or divisive clothing.
They were treating me like I was a criminal, she said. I was not allowed to wear that at school because it promoted gun violence.
The shirt, which was a gift from Bullwinkles father when he became a card-carrying member of the NRA, features a buck, an American flag and a hunters silhouette. It also has the words National Rifle Association of America: Protecting Americas Traditions Since 1871 written in the center.
Bullwinkles father said he emailed the schools principal to find out why his daughter had to change her shirt.
Principal Kimberly Fricker responded in an email, which said, in part, The shirt had a gun on it, which is not allowed by school police. Its protocol to have students change when theyre in violation of the dress code.
The girls father, who has retained an attorney, now wants to know how the school defines violence. He said the drill team is allowed to twirl fake rifles and the mascot is a Comanche.
I think that if you consider the hunter, the image of the hunter to be offensive, certainly there are groups that would consider the Comanche Indian chief to be offensive, he said.
CBS2′s Stacey Butler was unable to reach Fricker for comment.
It’s right about the time for that young lady to gather together EVERY student she knows and trusts, and have them ALL wear NRA t-shirts and show up at school.
Imagine ... 25, 50 or 60 kids showing up at the school in NRA shirts just to say “F*** you” to the administration.
Push back, or the other side wins. Can’t let this crap go unanswered.
Or better yet... what if NRA bumper stickers magically just started ... appearing ... on school officials’ cars - particularly on the car of the asswipe that started hassling this young girl?
And KEPT appearing on the car week after week...
Just saying...
I’m sure a TUPAC shirt is just fine.
There is also zero tolerance for learning. What is disguised as such is actually the “absorption” of islamo-communist thought processes.
But Guns just get up and kill innocent children on their own. /s
I mean not even communists like fascists, right?
I’m glad he’s taking legal action. They should be made to put up or shut up. If they claim an NRA t-shirt “promotes violence” then they should be able to produce some verifiable quote from an NRA officer inciting violence. If they can’t, then not only should the prohibition not stand, but they should have to pay some kind of penalty for thinking they can make agenda-driven policy with no basis in actual facts.
Rectum? Damn near killed em!
Actually if they were it might do them some good, they’d be less likely to shoot those persons the gang leadership tells them to shoot and more likely to shoot the gang leaders.
