Like the hundreds of World War II veterans who came to National Mall to pay their respects this week, a group of Vietnam veterans found a barricade blocking the way to their memorial Friday. News4's Mark Segraves said two U.S. Park Service Rangers manning the gate asked that the group respect the government's shutdown but moved aside.
Segraves described the exchange as pleasant and respectful.
The veterans then moved the barricade and walked down to the wall to pay their respects. But a flood of tourists followed even though the memorial is closed to the general public.
U.S. Park Police arrive to the scene, asked everyone to leave and put the barricade back into place.

Not too long ago there was a movement called Occupy Wall Street. These protestors camped out in parks and other public places. The response was to just let them be.
Today, vets who merely intend to visit parks and not deface them and not use them as a camp ground are being turned away by force.
We the people have been sensitized to accept this as if it is normal. It is normal to shut down Boston, it is normal to shut down public parks. Whats next?
I am PROUD to say that I just received a text from a biker/shipmate FRiend of mine that directed me to go to WRC 4 web page and they were reporting the story quoted above about the VN Vets going by the Park Rangers and ‘leading the crowd’ to view the wall....
Well, it appears the group was a bunch of shipmates of mine that were the removers - they are in DC for Ships Reunion and got caught up in this food fight......
I ‘reminded’ him of two of the more popular ‘lines’ of the era -
WE MUST DESTROY THE VILLAGE TO SAVE IT and
ONCE YOU HAVE THEM BY THE BALLS, THE HEART AND MIND SOON FOLLOW.

Instead of leaving, the veterans and tourists should have shouted in unison,
“Call 1-800-FUC*-YO!”
“It’s time for patriotic Americans to “Occupy” the war memorials 24/7 until this government abuse is stopped.”

They are all prepped for it. The big weekend will be next weekend when the general trucker strike arrives in town. They probably have their stooges already set to create the disturbance that instigates martial law. This is the point where the tyrant has to make his move. He cannot afford to lose the Senate in 2014.

NPS, please show us a law that exists that authorizes you to close any national park, monument or place without an emergency that affects the public welfare?
There’s plenty of language in federal law the requires national parks and monuments to be kept open. None that I’ve found that unilaterally permits the NPS to ‘decide’ that ‘places are closed due to budget issues.’
Go home, you’re not required, NPS. We’ll handle the trash bags, thank you very much.
There are probably a lot who are still reasonably mobile, but suffering form a terminal disease, who right now are are thinking, "I might as well do one more good deed for my Country and the Constitution. I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic..."
My liberal Vietnam Vet brother would blame republicans until his dying day. The indoctrination upon his mind is complete. His news sources are MSNBC and CNN. Suggesting change or giving my opinion would cause him to go into meltdown mode. Sighing and praying for him.
