High school graduation rates among children of same-sex households (are 35% lower)
Review of Economics of the Household ^ | September 2013 | Douglas W. Allen

Posted on 10/04/2013 1:06:38 PM PDT by reaganaut1

Abstract: Almost all studies of same-sex parenting have concluded there is “no difference” in a range of outcome measures for children who live in a household with same-sex parents compared to children living with married opposite-sex parents. Recently, some work based on the US census has suggested otherwise, but those studies have considerable drawbacks. Here, a 20 % sample of the 2006 Canada census is used to identify self-reported children living with same-sex parents, and to examine the association of household type with children’s high school graduation rates. This large random sample allows for control of parental marital status, distinguishes between gay and lesbian families, and is large enough to evaluate differences in gender between parents and children. Children living with gay and lesbian families in 2006 were about 65 % as likely to graduate compared to children living in opposite sex marriage families. Daughters of same-sex parents do considerably worse than sons.

Thank you, Mrs. Don-o. You said it much better than I did.

One or both may be adoptive mothers. In such case the child is both of “theirs” legally, although of course not biologically.

Sorry, wasn’t directed at you. Just a statement of a fact that the homo-Left never seems to grasp, or acknowledge.

It’s also because children in a “same sex household” generally come out of a dysfunctional heterosexual household. In my experience, many of the people who identify as “gay” do so because they have had miserable relationships (not necessarily their fault) with either their parents or persons of the opposite sex, even those to whom they were married.

Of course, this will never be admitted by the gay lobby.

Actually, I think there’s more to it than that. Please see my post above.

I feel so sorry for them. One of these days I fear that something really terrible is going to happen over there.

Or they will blame it on bullying and discrimination against their kids.

It’s basically an abomination. We used to know that. And I speak as a not very religious person.

Thank You SO MUCH for that little post-modern lecture. Gosh, majoring in Biology, how did I ever forget all these wonderful, completely Natural, and socially nurturing methods of providing a couple of twisted sexual deviants with a little plaything to warp physically and psychologically? And you're a Catholic?

I thought the criticism of us Protestants was that we were too prone to social radicalism.

The statement was sarcasm. There was never anything more NAUSEATING for me then seeing a Dyke and her Bottom in the NeoNatal Intensive Care unit taking possession of their new little toy who had the bad luck to be born to an alcoholic mother in California, only to be handed over to a couple of psycho freaks.

If you think THAT's normal, or healthy, or even "helpful", then God help you.

Perhaps bring them from Kenya and manufacture a fake birth certificate?

Damn! That's what happened!

I knew it...there had to be a reason "her" name was Stanley...

And of course now it’s forbidden to offer therapy for these poor people.

I really don’t blame these people, because in many cases, it really was a reaction to a problem that modern society cannot solve and will not even encourage them to solve. I was so depressed when I read about that miserable transsexual in the Netherlands (she was born a woman and had surgery and hormone therapy to “become” male) who had herself “euthanized” because she was so miserable.

In addition to having a society cruel enough to encourage this, she was brought up by parents who wanted only boys and simply excluded her because she wasn’t one. I knew somebody like that in California, a sort of stereotypical lesbian, who had been brought up as a boy because her father hated girls. Her father beat her mother on a regular basis...because she had given birth to a daughter. These people were rural lower income whites.

I don’t think it’s that unusual for family dysfunction to produce gays, but the problem is that now we can’t talk about it. So it gets repeated.
