For those unfamiliar with the Vietnam War Memorial, here's a photo looking towards the central corner. The two walls continue tapering downwards as though the ground had fallen away to uncover the collective tombstone.
It's a wide open Memorial but for the single strand of chain that guides visitors from one end to the other.
