Great idea! He should wait until close to the deadline when the MSM and the Democrats are screaming that it is the "edge of the cliff". That would firmly put the ball in their court.

in the original house CR there was a section 138 that exempted debt interest and principal from the debt ceiling

i think when Boehner says he is not going to cave and give a no conditions CR, and that he will not allow a debt default, this is what he is thinking about

Under the fourteenth amendment, any Bill passed by Boehner to this affect would be absolutely brilliant. Neither the president or the democrats could oppose it without being in violation of the amendment. It would take the 14th away from Obama as a tactic and remove social security (as a pension payment) from the democrats arsenal. They would no longer be able to scare grandma.

If he doesn’t do this MONDAY - and make a gigantic public scene about it - he’s a fool.
