HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) The sisters of a Connecticut woman fatally shot by police in Washington after she tried to ram her car through a White House barrier said Monday she wasn't delusional and suggest she may have been fleeing danger.
The two sisters of Miriam Carey, who was killed Thursday with her 13-month-old child in her car, disputed the accounts of officials and their sister's one-time boyfriend that she was under the delusion that President Barack Obama was communicating with her.

Thank you!
I am mystified by some of the comments here. And disgusted by the racial overtones. We should be better than that - but, sadly, some of us are not.
I’m outraged about this. Can you imagine if Bush was President and this all went down. Obama ignored this women has nothing to say about her? Where is Sharpton and Jerkson why do the African Americans ignore her? I just don’t understand?
Well.... back in 2008 the criminal element in government installed this Muslim friendly Marxist organizer as President.
The guards of the castle are on heightened awareness as the public is 'restless'. P>Place the behavior of a mother (who may have schizoid tendencies) with child, in unfamiliar territory against a militarized police force at DEFCON 5, and the panic and confusion that follows is almost guaranteed.
but is there an answer out there?
Yeah, but few want to hear it and less want to follow it.
I wish the media would watch the video and drop that line. It is inaccurate. She was forced into that barrier by a police SUV. She had to have done something else to get their attention. Otherwise, why were they engaged in a high speed chase after her?
I agree that it will be messy-and it should. No suspicious death, under any circumstances should go uninvestigated. If something like this happens in Anycity, USA, cops get suspended, all vehicles involved are impounded, witnesses are interviewed, etc while a REAL investigation takes place.
In the meantime, the deceased person’s relatives get lawyered up, as does the city-there is nothing unusual about that-it is their right to do so-circumstances are not always what they seem, particularly when those who are supposed to uphold the law screw up bigtime...
RE: Getting lawyered up. Per the interview, the sisters have not even seen their sister’s body.
Now, if I am dealing with whatever is going on that prevents common decency being observed, you damn right I have a lawyer.
I see a racial/ethnic element to some comments as well-which is unworthy of people who come to this site, where the common denominator is discussion of individual liberty and smaller government, not race. Myself, and some others here are hispanic/latino, some others are black, some are Asian-racist comments have no place here.
I think you have the right of it-my idea of common decency does not justify the killing of a person of either gender unless they are driving down the street, shooting outlaw-style.
I’ve heard the excuse that the driver could have had bombs on her person or in the car-if that were so, shooting makes no sense, because we always hear that homicide bombers set off the bombs as soon as shots are fired-duh!
Well I do think it is racial in that the coverage and support of police for shooting an unarmed woman with a baby in the care seems geared toward providing cover for the killing.
All the crap that it was done in a heightened atmosphere due to navy yard shooing should insult the common sense of everyone.
Saying they didn’t know if she had a bomb strapped on her. It would have had to have been a tiny tiny bomb considering what she had on.
If they got the information on her “ mental disability” so quickly they could have also contacted a relative and learned she was NOT armed.
She was a 110 lb distressed woman.
Police have a rough job for sure but when out numbered her 35-1
NO reason to shoot so quickly
massive cover up goin on
gee where have we heard that before
Yeah, sure.
“There is nothing at this point that can be done for the deceased crazy momma”
“.....at this point, what difference does it make?”
Hillary Clinton
Thank you for this thread, even though it did turn ugly pretty quickly. Thanks for inputting common sense and decency.
I don’t understand how word got out so quickly that she was crazy and thought Obama was stalking her. Either somebody was accessing her medical records while she was being killed, or they made it up out of whole cloth.
Some people are eager to believe the official line and write her off as worthless, because she was black. It’s sickening.
Look, the lady hit a policeman with her car. Broke his leg. Past that we do not know his injuries.
Short of Prayer for the family & daughter, what can anyone do for the crazy momma?
No, I am nothing like Derr Hilderbeast.
But I accept your point.
Could/Should her death have been avoided? Probably.
But, let me remind you that there is no sanity when we deal with this ComDem Administration. They are magnets for the extremely stupid useful idiots. Those who have no common sense and no judgement. And the bureaucraps who run the security forces are just those kinds of people. The officers? Well I am sure it is a mixture of good and bad.
The missing information that I would like to hear is how many times did they shoot her? That would be an indicator of whether they used reasonable restrain on their actions.
“Within minutes” of the event, when news reports were back and forth on whether the driver was dead or alive, they didn’t know WHO the driver was or the driver’s gender. Officials were checking the CT records based on the license plates on the car (which could have been stolen for all they knew). There were no reliable reports “within minutes” about the driver’s mental status, other than observing the erratic behavior could lead anyone to believe the driver had mental issues.
