The CEO of Germany’s largest utilty, E.ON, has some stark warnings for European policymakers regarding the continent’s energy policy. While American industry enjoys outrageously cheap natural gas (thank you, shale), energy prices in Europe are rising. In today’s globalized world, businesses are willing and able to pick up and move across the Atlantic to take advantage of the shale boom, and that has many in Europe worried. The FT reports:
“There is a competitive advantage for America that we cannot prevent, at least for some time,” [Johannes Teyssen, chief executive of Eon] told the Financial Times. He said it was “a dream” for politicians to suggest otherwise. “It will take years and long years of innovation before we can start to shrink it,” he added…

Fortunately for the Europeans, we have a job killer law coming online, an anti business president, and at the lower levels, an entitled and not too bright labor pool.

An equalizing tax has been proposed by the UN numerous times. The UN will impose it, collect it and spend it. American business will, of course pay it. This was intended to keep global socialism afloat as until Obamacare everybody else’s products were priced to include their generous benefits. US goods prices were comparatively low.
Several treaties that allow our trading partners to impose tariffs on US products have been passed. I believe the latest small arms treaties is another of these. A murder committed in Belgium is done with a gun bought from Trader Joe’s on the Texas border. The US is taken to court and because the government allows gun buying, trading, etc. we lose. Per treaty our trading partners get to impose tariffs on our goods until we comply with the treaty. This is how the GATT works.
Average is $.12 kwh for the USA.

India and China generate power primarily burning coal without carbon sequestration.
