Is Obamacare’s Messy Roll-Out Redeeming the GOP’s Shutdown?
Mediaite ^ | October 7, 2013 | Noah Rothman

“I really don’t like the Republican tactics, but at least now I can understand why they are so pissed about this.”

If you had to crystallize the Democratic Party’s greatest fear into a single sentence, it would be the one above. This was the sentiment expressed by Cindy Vinson, a 60-year-old retired teacher and San Jose, California resident, who learned last week that she will be responsible for $1,800 more in annual costs for an individual health care policy following the implementation of the Affordable Care Act.

“I was laughing at [House Speaker John] Boehner – until the mail came today,” Tom Waschura, a 52-year-old Portola Valley resident and partisan Democrat who discovered his family of four will now be responsible for $10,000 more in insurance costs.

The public will be hard pressed to find a Republican inside the Beltway who believes shutting down the government was a great idea. The polls conducted prior to and immediately following the shutdown show that the public was opposed to using this extraordinary tactic to defund the ACA.

But in the wake of last week’s “excruciatingly frustrating” Obamacare roll-out, to quote Democratic California Rep. Adam Schiff, the shutdown appears like less of a flailing overreaction to the ACA and more like a noble last stand.

Even some in the media are warming to the idea that the Republican Party might find their attacks on the ACA vindicated by its clunky roll-out. If only the media were not singularly focused on the chaos created by an unnecessary shutdown, they dishonestly lament.

(VIDEO-AT-LINK)

This is nonsense. It is demeaning to their audience to suggest that the public, like the press, is simply unable to wrap their heads around two simultaneously unfolding stories at once. Secondly, it ignores what both Vinson and Waschura have already concluded: that the GOP forced a shutdown over the implementation of the ACA. They did not need a compliant press corps to guide them to that conclusion. They were paying attention.

Republicans have done a rather spectacular job of mismanaging the communications effort over this shutdown. The GOP appeared to hope that by refusing to prosecute the conflict they started, it would simply resolve itself. Indeed, reports indicate that the GOP in Congress has spent more time attempting to position their particular faction as bearing the least responsibility for the shutdown than seeking an advantageous position in negotiations with Congressional Democrats and the president.

But events might just be conspiring to redeem the GOP in the eyes of voters. This shutdown will be inextricably linked to the roll-out of the ACA. And, if Obamcare’s public debut does not improve, voters may look back on the shutdown as being partially justified.

The comment section needs some Freeping. The libs are attacking the Tea Party in the comments and refuse to acknowledge that this is an Obama/Reid Shutdown.

Yes, This is an Obama/Reid shutdown

Freepers know that I've posted dozens and dozens of comments with the same 5 words "John Boehner Has To Go" over the past few years but right now I'm going to back him as long as he backs our agenda on these two issues.

Do I have faith that he will not cave? No. But I have hopes. That's all I can have at ths point.

Does this mean I will change my mind that Boehner needs to replaced as Speaker. Absolutely not.

I'm still hoping for Allen West or Newt to become the Speaker.

But events might just be conspiring to redeem the GOP in the eyes of voters.

The left is caught in the throes of a severe cognitive dissonance. They cannot admit to be true what their own eyes are telling them: Obamacare was a really, really bad idea. So they're trying to build tiny bridges to the truth, but without admitting that the right, and least of all the Tea Party, was actually ahead of them on this. They can't go there. It would shatter their world.

how the heck can Obamacare’s debut improve? it is what it is, whether there are glitches in the rollout, signups, what have you... it is unaffordable, it is unfair... nothing will improve any debut of that...

Liberal media beginning to realize Cruz was right...but won’t come right out and admit it. The ObamaCare rollout has been like the Titanic sinking as it left the port

The patient could only accommodate having a certain degree of
having obamacare shoved down his throat before finally tasting how toxic it was.

Pelosi wanted to pass obmamacare before anyone could find out what it meant. The delay is finally forcing the public to find out, hopefully before it’s too late. It was predicted long ago that this issue would be obama’s Waterloo. The battle’s not over yet.

Is Obamacare’s Messy Roll-Out Redeeming the GOP’s Shutdown?

In strictest sense the roll-out disaster is merely a precursor of the greater diaster that awaits implementation of ObamaCare.
ObamaCare WILL add unnecessary expense to the cost of healthcare, the salary of IRS enforcers and ACORN Navigators being the thin edge of that wedge.
ObamaCare WILL limit access to treatment, not limited to the bureaucratic maze that will need to be negotiated to arrive at a healthcare worker that can address healthcare issues.
ObamaCare WILL harm the economy, business, and jobs. It already has.
ObamaCare WILL discourage qualified individuals from choosing the arduous path to become a healthcare provider only to become a pawn of bureaucrats. They would be more inclined to seek their life's work in other fields. (This may be tempered somewhat in that the general economy WILL be depressed so that alternative careers will also not be as attractive.)
ObamaCare WILL make people vulnerable to computer hackers stealing information, according to internet security expert John McAfee.
ObamaCare WILL limit individual freedom as bureaucrats will begin by denying people options in lifestyle based on perceived potential healthcare cost to "the government".
ObamaCare WILL enforce Death Panels.
ObamaCare WILL be inefficient and the Roll Out failure being just the tip of the iceberg.
