The Denali Commission in Alaska, set up in 2008 thanks to earmarks by former Senator Ted Stevens, came under withering criticism from … the Denali Commission, or at least one member of it. The Washington Post reported yesterday afternoon on a letter sent by its Inspector General to Rep. Darrell Issa, chair of the House Oversight Committee, asking Congress to fire him and everyone else at the Denali Commission. Calling the bureaucracy “a Congressional experiment that hasn’t worked out well,” Mike Marsh wants Congress to save $7.4 million a year and eliminate a “middleman” agency.

Refreshing thought, a man in charge that sees no reason for the Commission he runs to even exist.

That is NEWS.

DENALI COMMISSION STORY

Introduced by Congress in 1998, the Denali Commission is an independent federal agency designed to provide critical utilities, infrastructure, and economic support throughout Alaska. With the creation of the Denali Commission, Congress acknowledged the need for increased inter-agency cooperation and focus on Alaska’s remote communities.

Back when my mother learned social work 40 years ago, they actually taught that one of the goals should be to eliminate the need for the job.

I'm sure there are many other agencies, commissions and other federal bureaucracies that could be shut down permanently and nobody outside those orgs would miss them.
Duplicate functions, agencies created for a specific purpose that no longer exists, positions that should never have been instituted in the first place.
An ernest Federal cleanup could cut our taxes in half.

Have been saying for years.

It is TIME to DownSize DC!

Close entire Rogue/Unconstitutional Departments.

Move any worthwhile functions to the State level.

It is time to close the entire US Department of Education (re education) including it’s SWAT Teams. Education quality will improve and no one will miss it, except the Bureaucraps.

EPA?

OSHA?

IRS? (yes, I am serious)

Move the entire center-of-gravity of the Fed Gov away from DC.

This is going to take a very big wrecking ball to precipitate.

Obozo’s disaster might be just the excuse to get it done.

Decades ago, in the People’s Republic of Madistan, someone ran for a city office promising to close that unnecessary expenditure. He lost. And the insanity in Wisconsin’s capital continues today...present governor excepted.

I bet there is one thing that the Fed bureaucracy and their supporters would fight to the death for...their tax-money-sucking jobs. I hope we have the national resolve to engage them in this war.

Add a whole bunch of other commissions that are obsolete and useless like the Navajo - Hopi Relocation Commission that exists to relocate tribal members as a result of a lands exchange 80 or so years ago.
