This nonsense must stop. Colleges and even local High Schools are being pressured by the PC Nazis to change the generations loved mascot nicknames. The Sioux, Apaches, Seminoles for just a couple of samples. Consider...
With the corrupted history poorly taught in the government schools, the ONLY thing keeping alive the names of many Native American tribes is their being adopted over the years by school teams.
These names, chosen to claim for the teams, the bravery, courage, tenacity and very existence of the people here before Columbus showed up, will vanish from the language without these reminders.
Oh, should my RED Sox change their color, too?
What about the U.S. Army naming a war fighting helicopter the APACHE? Must they rename it the HECKAWES?

—Oh, should my RED Sox change their color, too?—

Ironically, at the height of the Cold War, the Cincinnati Reds changed or reverted their names to Redlegs because it sounded less commie.

I agree—a good way for kids to learn the names of Indian tribes, or be familiar with the terms, is through the sports teams—I was reading “Little House on the Prairie” last night to my 8 and 11 yr old kids and was stunned to learn that they had never heard the names “Comanche” or “Apache”—a little homeschooling on my part on Indian tribes is in order. . .
