Those of us who visit parks and camp have noticed the change in park rangers in the last 20 years. Used to be the ranger was a big healthy man who would roll up and demand order and quiet at night. Then we started getting the urban student types and the pear-shaped ladies who wanted only to give lectures on environment and sustainability. Bureaucrats in uniform.

“While I understand the anger, I don’t think it’s fair to blame this on the park rangers, these decisions were made at higher levels.”
With respect, the Just Following Orders excuse didn’t cut it in Nuremburg, it doesn’t cut it now.

The Park Police have been around a very long time too — at least since the late 70s/early 1980s in some of the urban parks. Regular NPS park rangers started going to “cop shops” and getting their law enforcement commissions back then too. Unfortunately, too many of them were wanna-be cops who could never make it in the big city. And, their attitudes have become more and more hateful-toward-park-visitors. Don’t get me started on my stories.

No, it didn’t, nor should it. I hope you didn’t mean to compare park rangers blocking access to parks to the crimes prosecuted at Nuremburg. This isn’t a matter of illegal orders. Distasteful orders, I hope to most. But not much more.

The park rangers are go-along dupes. Some make excuses for their inappropriate and uncivil behavior. Not one has quit. They are colloborators with the commie nobamanistas No excuses.

Winter is coming and I’ve seen that done in both Wisconsin (my small hometown) and in Iowa (where I went to college). I just thought that the fountains didn’t have their own water shutoff valves, so this prevented the fountains from being used during the winter months when freezing temperatures could cause problems. Since the fountains were really only in demand during hot temperatures, no big deal.

Of course, you could always sell lemonade! You can't do that anymore. The local government would come out and say that you need a permit, after being tipped off by the Feds.

Until very recently, the National Park Service was one of the least-loathed government agencies in the country. Now, with orders from on high to keep the public from visiting beloved parks and monuments the agency is developing a poor reputation. If the public knew just how badly managed those parks have been for over a century, the agency's reputation would never come back.
We don't need an armed monopoly in the land entertainment business.

On the laptop screens looks like a game of lacrosse on Piaps’ screen and I cannot figure what the guy in front is watching, looks like some guy in camo doing a witch doctor dance to the guy laying down, while the soldier watches.

If theres anything good to say about their pettiness its that it has to be converting many to Conservatives and Republicans. That's not quite how the liberal, co-dependent, abusive relationship works.
To them, it's still OUR fault for making Obama act this way. He's only doing it because he loves America so much.

One screen shows two uniformed functionaries beating an old woman. The other shows a uniformed functionary beating a backpacker with a long stick.
Presumably , both beatees were receiving their deserved comeuppance for the crime of venturing onto public land declared off-limits to citizens because of the government shutdown.

Had a park ranger come up to us at a campsite and start SCREAMING at us to move one of our cars. The guy got all beet red in the face and got in my friend's face, pointing his finger at his nose, "You! Will! Move! Right! Now!"
And no, this was not after a friendly warning or snide remark from us. This was our first encounter with "Obama's Forestry Service" in Coconino National Forest.
