Pres. Obama Addresses Shutdown's Effects on D.C.
nbcwashington.com ^ | October 9, 2013 | Doreen Gentzler and Mila Mimica

"Part of the atmosphere that allowed this shutdown to take place was this attitude that these folks aren’t providing important services and value to our country and they’re dead wrong about that," Obama said. "Those politicians who are always complaining about federal workers ... I guess they’re doing it for political reasons."

He said he has seen the impact of the shutdown firsthand -- seeing younger staff get furloughed and struggle day in and day out.

"There are people who are being impacted every day, and in the D.C. metro region that much more," Obama said. "I’ve got young staff here who are already not getting paid a lot, and now aren’t getting a pay check. All this is personal for me, but really the solution to this is simple."

The President went on to emphasize that in his opinion, the shutdown could end immediately if House Speaker John Boehner allowed a vote on the floor of the House of Representatives to reopen the government.

"You can’t negotiate under anything under the threat that if you don’t get your way 100 percent, you’re going to shut down the government and have the United States government not pay its bills," Obama said. "That is contrary to democracy and how our system is supposed to operate and essentially precludes compromise ... We can’t engage in an extortion game."

Well, jug ears, then why are you doing exactly that?

. . . in his opinion, the shutdown could end immediately if House Speaker John Boehner allowed a vote on the floor of the House of Representatives to reopen the government.

Gee, jug ears, maybe that could be arranged right after Harry Reid allows a vote on the floor of the Senate to repeal ObaMaoCare, or pass a budget, or anything else he has neglected since 2011. Why don't you, as his puppet master, suggest it?

Don’t see where he addresses the issue raised by DC politicians of their just wanting to spend their “own money”, not Federal dollars.

..... This whole Government Shutdown is kinda like the "Day Without a Mexican (Illegal)" that we have here in Los Angeles. In L.A. the so called Immigrant Activists aka "Community Organizers" organize a day without the help of migrant workers ... basically it is an organized one day strike when the migrants stay home from work to show the effects of not having them around to do those menial jobs that Americans refuse to do. However ... the effects here in L.A. are actually quite pleasant with the results being relatively free flowing traffic on our freeways and quiet neighborhoods without ungodly jarring sound of leafblowers interrupting your solace.

.... This is a demonstrative tactic that is used by these "Community Organizers" to stick it to the people ... to make them suffer without the benefit of their services. Of course it can backfire like it does every year here in L.A., but on the National Level .... certain directives issued by the Community Organizer in Chief can actually have a demonstrable dramatic effect upon the electorate. This is what we are seeing right now with this Government Shutdown.

..... Even though we have had governmental shutdowns in the past with little or no repercussions ...... This time ..... it is quite different. Since the Liberals believe that conservatives are supposed to stand for limited government which of course all true Liberals vehemently dislike ....... This Administration is attempting to purposely magnify and exaggerate the effects of this particular Government shutdown in an attempt to put on display for the masses by creating staged examples for maximum effect of ....... What a world without the loving guidance and control that our compassionate blessed government, under the command of our dear leader, would look like and feel like if the GOP should ever again get back into power.

This is exactly what he is doing.

He said he has seen the impact of the shutdown firsthand -- seeing younger staff get furloughed and struggle day in and day out.

If they had not been hired to build mini-empires to begin with they wouldn't be out of work now. Perhaps they would have been hired into productive jobs which gave real value added to products and services. But instead the mini-empire builders use their time learning the system and how to convince their leadership why the future of the free world rests with approval of their vision of expansion. After all it helps their bosses move on up the ladder as well.
