Conservatives will HAVE to show up in 2014 regardless of what happens. They have to keep bringing the fight regardless of what happens. As it is, the lines have been drawn as firmly as possible with principled conservatives on one side and all the opposition on another. If they back out in 2014 it is gonna lead to a complete hard left takeover.

At the moment, it is not clear that the GOP is equipped with leaders who can properly deal with the default hysteria and can properly articulate that Obama is responsible for defaulting and not them. And so it is gonna fall on ordinary American conservatives to do so if they want to keep the fight going past the debt ceiling deadline. And if they can’t, they still have to show up in full force in 2014. The idea that they will give up in 2014 if they don;t get all their goals is extremely troubling; it shows a complete lack of fighting spirit. And if we don’t have fighting spirit, how exactly can we expect any politician we elect to represent us to have fighting spirit for us?

Count me out. I will vote for Tea Party candidates only. I have held my nose and voted for our idiot over their's, one too many times already. It is clear that the establishment Republicans are every bit the enemy of this country as the Democrats (who, at least, are somewhat honest about their goals). A conservative Republican will get my full support. Others need not apply.

And I have a strong feeling that I am far from alone in this sentiment. Lose courage in this battle, and 2014 will be a trainwreck for the GOP.

I’ve never missed a vote. I am just saying that if Republicans cave on this, I know that the base will be deflated and not show up, putting the House majority in jeopardy. Forget about the Senate. The only excitement will be where Tea Party candidates defeat a RINO (Lindsey Graham, for example), but that does not gain Republican seats. If they hold fast, they will be rewarded, but I think some of them don’t want to win, they prefer to lose gracefully.
