Truckers’ Capital Beltway protest isn’t a hoax, organizers say
The Washington Post ^ | October 10, 2013 | Lori Aratani,

So it wasn’t a hoax after all?

Organizers of the “Truckers Ride for the Constitution” rally say they are indeed coming to Washington on Friday — but whether they will shut down the Beltway or just make a lot of noise remains to be seen.

[snip]The protest group’s agenda has evolved since the story began making the rounds of news outlets across the country early this week with a story in U.S. News & World Report, which said the truckers wanted members of Congress to be arrested, while others called for the ouster of President Obama.

Andrews said the group still wants to get rid of Obama, but will do so by legal means. She said independent truckers also are upset about new regulations, including on idling and hours of service, that threaten to put them out of business.

If they close the beltway, the truckers can just come into DC via secondary roads, and cause huge traffic jams.

I drove a truck as a girl.

Sorry, I'm confused. Don't take this the wrong way. What are you now?

.. instead of just standard traffic for that time of day.

If the info overlay on the pic is correct, and barring an accident up ahead of 'em somewhere, that's not normal traffic at the southbound 81/15 interchange at 4.40 on a weekday afternoon.

Even that time of day on the northbound side would be way more predominantly car traffic gettin' the hell outta H'burg after state.pa.goobers.us get off 'work'.

Parenthetically, I'm picturing the exit off Rt 15 S where one veers to the right to pick up I-81S.

Megyn Kelly just had the organizer on her show. He sounded pretty serious to me.

Excellent; trucks are a pain in the *** on the highway, if you know what I mean; so it could be pretty effective if several show...

I think there will be some trucks and a lot of disappointment.

I agree. They don't seem to have any coherent message.

Never underestimate the power of a bunch of pissed off truckers. Remember “Convoy” from the 70’s?

That is one of a number of twitter accounts which has been passing off old photos not connected to this event.
The photo that twitter account posted was also posted in May 2013 for an unrelated event:

That link is also bad and re-directed to:

The website you were trying to reach is temporarily unavailable.
