shredding the social safety net and forcing many poor women into the workforce
Shredding it? How about sizing it more appropriately? Where is it written that poor women shouldn't work? Isn't working - as opposed to fixed benefits - going to help them avoid being poor for life?
The tone of the article is not surprising but it is revealing about the plantation mindset.
