‘You’re Wrong There!’: Gohmert Battles Fox News Anchor Over Who’s to Blame for the Mess in Wash
The Blaze ^ | October 13, 2013 | Becket Adams

[With video]

Texas Congressman Louie Gohmert got into a tense back-and-forth Saturday with Fox New’s Arthel Neville over who is to blame for the partial government shut down and the frightening possibility of a debt-ceiling breach.

The Republican Congressman insisted that President Barack Obama and his Democrat allies in the U.S. Senate are responsible for the current mess in the nation’s capital.

The Fox News anchor wasn’t satisfied with Rep. Gohmert’s analysis.

“You’re not saying that either, Congressman?” Neville said. “Let’s have some honest talk here.”

The Congressman repeated that it’s the Democrats, especially Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who have been dishonest negotiators throughout the entire shutdown ordeal.

“Harry Reid saying that there’s a bunch of firebrands and radicals in the House?” he said. “That’s not the case. We are together, but the hijacking has been the U.S. Senate by left-wing radicals who want to keep spending grandchildren’s money.”

Neville tried to move the conversation forward.

“I appreciate your passion,” she said. “And of course we’re not suggesting — everybody has great suggestions. We have to mix and match.”

“No, you’re wrong there, you’re wrong there!” the Congressman interrupted. “Tell me what the president has suggested. Tell me what Harry Reid has suggested. They have not made one good suggestion, not one, other than total capitulation.”

“Any way out of this, sir?” she asked.

“Yes!” Rep. Gohmert said. “Have them start compromising. We’ve compromised over and over. We got to the point where we said, ‘Okay, here’s the deal. Here’s our negotiators’ conferees. That’s what the law requires.’ Harry Reid would not even appoint conferees as the law requires.”

I used to watch Faux News several hours a day, I now do not watch them for 30 minutes in a month if that. I have grown tired of the ever increasing stream of leftists and the addition of even more leftists running the shows.

They brought people in with conservative positions now are doing the switch to all the left all the time.

If Gohmert was Speaker, talking out in front of the Capitol every day and lambasting Reid and Obama with the truth, they would try to spin it, but the truth would start getting out there. Boehner can’t say what he doesn’t believe, and he can’t sell it even if he does believe it. He’s got to go. Louie is a winner.

Even Fox is saying the House Republicans have no end strategy.

With spending at a trillion dollars of borrowed money every year and mountain of national debt about to overwhelm us, I don't hear anyone asking Reid or Obama about their end strategy.

This “mix and match” stuff is what is wrong. In a compromise other sides gains and both sides lose. Obama wants to negotiate like the Allied negotiated with the Germans at Versailles.

I remember watching Arthel Neville hosting one of the Fox News streams of Zimmerman trial and seeing her go ballistic on a retired NYC Police detective who said that the case should have never of been brought to trial. They had to take a break and after the brake she came back on saying that it was just a friendly disagreement and we are allowed to have them here. However Gohmert just set her straight and destroyed her spin. I admire him for not letting her go unchallenged. Fox News is now and really has been for a while in the same pit as the other so called left leaning news organizations.

I rather like Arthel on some issues but it does our cause more good when she and others with such biases are confronted like Gohmert did. This forces those watching to hear the counter-argument and think about our side rationally. A robot like Hannity who just repeats the same litany endlessly will never even be watched by potential converts.

I think you are being too hard on poor little Arthel. You have to remember that she is an Affirmative Action Liberal Democrat BlackAfricanmerican woman and as with all good BlackAfricanmericans, liberal policies trump damn near everything and BLACK trumps everything. So..............

When John Cornyn sleeps he has nightmares about Louie.

Already running radio ads in Austin, burning cash. Most dangerous place in DC is that space between a Vet and a TV camera. RINO John will run you over.

Well said. Especially the part about the bumper sticker Conservative Sean Hannity. Couldn’t agree more.

This article from the Blaze doesn't do justice to the put-down of Mizz Arthel.

You had to hear it and see it in full context. I did....and trust me, Rep. Louie the G made mincemeat of this know-it-all, smug, superior, condescending lefty .

He rat-a-tatted her with FACTS right up to the time she said her producer was talking in her ear and she had to bring the interview to a close.

Hah...the producer saved her fanny from the superior intellect she was interviewing.

Way to go, Cong. Gohmert!

I’m sorry,, I get the Fox News channel.. however, watching it is more like watching a pop channel.. a NICK TV for republicans.. so I don’t get it too. sometimes , its so syrupy, welll, .. yaknow..

I could care less how pretty a face is as long as it is not lying to or shilling me for their own good.

Thank goodness for the remote.. and options... like CCTV and RT and Comedy Channel to get my news. :-]

Exactly.

All this LSM whining about republicans not compromising is BS.

The republicans come with plan after plan after plan and offer it to the Senate.

Dingy Dirty Harry rejects out of hand any and all House proposals.

Harry keeps saying “NO” but offers nothing in return, nothing at all.

It is about time the LSM reports that fact.

(They never will).

I've seen the ads and they remind me how much of a liar and traitor he is to conservatives.

Attacking his co-Senator (Cruz) like he did, name calling and other such juvenile actions, is beneath anything a conservative or true republican would do (anyone remember Reagan's 11th Commandment?).

“Voted against obamacare”. . .yeah right. . . bite me, Johnny boy, just bite me.

the only Fox News personality that was unwaveringly honest and worth watching was Judge Andrew Nepalitano but unfortunately, Fox fired him.
