Hundreds of veterans descended on Washington, D.C. on Sunday under overcast skies and light rain to protest the closure of the war memorials during the government shutdown and tore down the barricades surrounding the memorials to sounds of horns from truckers and cars and the roar of motorcycle engines.
They were joined by Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, Utah Republican Sen. Mike Lee and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who urged the Democratically-controlled Senate and President Barack Obama to remove the barricades and end the partial government shutdown.
Police blocked the roads, leading to tense stand-offs as the protesters swarmed on to the road surrounding police cars, chanting Move these cars! They then began marching on the White House to continue their protest, carrying uprooted barricades along with them to toss in front of the White House.

Great job!..BTTT
Thanks. I really appreciate your reply.
God bless them all.
Obama, with his filthy democrats, are eventually going to lose.
Thank you for setting the record straight. I was unfamiliar with the incident though I had heard about it. There is too much revisionist history promoted these days.
And everybody still thinks the military will be on our side.
Fact remains that a force was assembled to drive out their brothers in arms.
The military will obey orders.
President Obama, it's time for you to take measure of your deeds. As the most un-American president in our history you have dared to insult our nation's dearest treasure, our military.
The monuments in our nation's capitol, to the fallen and to the ones chosen to return from battles in foreign lands were built by the people of a nation grateful for the freedoms they secured. The monuments were paid for in full by the lives, blood and mangled bodies of our nation's best. Many never returned yet many others were spared, perhaps for their last mission, their last battle on our own shores where our individual freedoms are threatened by an enemy that is one of us.
Perhaps the numbers of veteran's from the "Greatest Generation" have dwindled, perhaps their strength and agility has decreased from when they sailed the ships, flew the planes, stormed the beaches and charged the enemy's fortifications. Do not be deceived, Mr. President for when the trumpet call is heard, these remaining men and women will join battle and bring with them reserves in numbers never before seen in human history. They will be backed by legions of patriots as far as the eyes can see, from sea to shining sea.
They will not be denied!!!
Excellent video!
WOW! That’s great, and the music!!!
Very well said!
This resident of the White House has no inkling of the sacrifices made and hardships our veterans have endured for the country or these sites would have never been closed to anyone.
I don’t believe any former president would have allowed this to happen on his watch.
Thank You, HokieMom! That was most powerful.
Nice work!!
What’s always left out of most descriptions of the Bonus March was that the WWI vets eventually got their wish; the bonus was paid out in 1936 rather than 1945, the original payout date (but those who did wait until 1945 kept earning interest).
Congress passed the measure for the early payout and it was VETOED by Franklin Roosevelt! His veto was then overridden. My grandfather used his bonus to make down payment on a house.
Anyway, God bless our WWII vets! Hope there’s more vets’ marches on Washington so I can be there next time.
I found it on twitter!
