Is this Robert Shiller as in “Case-Shiller,” which tracks one very important asset’s price, homes?
The ratio of prices of stocks to dividends rises when the price of stocks rises more than the dividends. But the rise in price of stocks is due to the increase in the money supply which tends to cause a rise in prices in general and a rise in aggregate profits and average rate of profit. And the rise in profits leads to a rise in stock prices.
As I said, I have absolutely no knowledge of economics or economists whatsoever. But this was the last Nobel Prize awarded this year, so I thought I'd post it.
Yes, it’s the same Robert Shiller of the Case-Shiller Home Price Indeces.
