Shelves in Two Lousiana Walmarts Cleared When Welfare Recipients Thought They Were Getting Free Food

Springhill Police Chief Will Lynd confirms they were called in to help the employees at Walmart because there were so many people clearing off the shelves. He says Walmart was so packed, “It was worse than any black Friday” that he’s ever seen.

Lynd explained the cards weren’t showing limits and they called corporate Walmart, whose spokesman said to let the people use the cards anyway. From 7 to 9 p.m., people were loading up their carts, but when the cards began showing limits again around 9, one woman was detained because she rang up a bill of $700.00 and only had .49 on her card. She was held by police until corporate Walmart said they wouldn’t press charges if she left the food.

It could have been. What few pics emerging it doesn’t look too bad. Of course it’s bad if you are one of the unlucky ones. Haven’t seen any liquefaction pics.

Free-for-All

(sorry Ted, it had to be done)

Never was it this much fun
Everything looks good to me
My beady eyes see some frozen fries
And I just can't let them be
Well it's a free-for-all
And I heard it said
You take just what you want
The stakes are high and so am I
It's in the air toni-i-ight

We all are there with our
Cheshire grins I got eyes on free food
No stinkin’ card limits are in place
No tellin what I might do
Well looky here ain’t no gubmint sting
Food card magic's in my hand
When in doubt I whip it out
My cart total’s over a grand
It's a free-for-all

Ooh, baby
Ooh, I got ya
Aaaaaaa

Welfare Recipients Thought They Were Getting Free Food

THOUGHT THE WERE GETTING FREE FOOD??? They DO get free food

Captain Obvious to the rescue!

I also question the use of the word "thought" in the headline. Anyone who thinks there will be any consequences to these people, even though the state knows the identity of each and every one is living in an alternate reality.

The real story here is that WalMart let folks take home groceries and goods without paying....because the folks were on the dole and (more than likely) black...

I think you misunderstand the situation. As far as Wallmart was concerned, they certainly did 'pay' for it, as the card transaction was approved. Can you imagine the riot that would have ensued had that store arbitrarily put their own limit on the amount that could be purchased with the card? Not only would there have been rioting, but I strongly suspect that the state would be 'investigating' them as well for being 'racists' or some other garbage.

They were in a no-win situation.

However, as I noted on previous posts, the state will know exactly who the miscreants were. Not that anything will happen to them or anything.

No telling how many thousands of tax payer dollars were spent on this miniscule “garden” that wide-load might garner attention.

Hubby buys the 50lb bags of ‘big dog’ food at the feed store. We are rural though. We also buy the chickens food there. And the cats.

OK. I just couldn't help this, but I have to ask. Are the cats to supplement the dog food? /ducking and running

LOL, no.

Although if needs be the chickens might supplement the cats and dogs.

The extra eggs already do.

Article says 200 bucks to start it. Right, along with the couple hundred thousand or more of money to fund the bureaucrats to maintain.
