Jedi, Jedi - that is a text book solution and as many of today's text book solutions it has little in common with reality or common sense. She was leaving her work, received a call from a friend for help. She responded without hesitation to this cry. I would hope any of us would do the same - whether a teen or octogenarian (that's me).

Where’s the phone number of the school administrator, their email address so we can all let them know what a bunch of nitwits they are?

Trayvon can drink his purple drank without consequence unless he attackes a CCWr. The only crime this girl is guilty of is being female and white. She helps the school crime statistics in that only 99.9% of school crimes are committed by thugs. The school gets a gov’t check for their unbiased statistics.

If youre helping drive underage teens home from a party, youre enabling them to break the law and violate the school policy. As for kids driving home drunk, theres a solution to that. Tell the parents to teach them to obey the law, respect their bodies and not drink. If a kid drives the drunk kid home, thats also helping the drunk kid to hide the activity from his parents. He should be calling his parents for the ride and not recruiting his otherwise innocent, non-participating friend as an enabler. It doesnt sound like the punishment she got was disproportionate. What a totalitarian crock! She helped a friend, she protected a life, and she broke no law. her punishment was outrageously wrong, and your support of it is equally wrong - if not more for the sheer inhumane cruelty and cold-blood callousness of it. People are not prisoners. But when I read drek like what you've posted, it chills me to the bone to see how desperately people want to be prison guards. Spare us from your righteous totalitarian dreams.

I can guarantee you I skipped any event where underage kids were drinking alcohol, Most likely because you were not invited and would have gotten beat up if you attended any way because you were an extreme DORK.
Congratulations on not changing.

It’s not the place of schools to punish students for anything that happens outside of school. The world is besieged by nannying representatives of the state. You are ok with it. I am not. It is up to their parents to discipline those kids, or not, and to the law to punish illegal behavior.

So I will put you down as opposed to in-school abortion clinics, unless the teacher impregnated the kid during school hours.

That's what she gets for being friends with the wrong kids.
I guess you and jedi jones didn't go to a lot of the same parties together. Probably for the same reason.

The school should have no say so about what students do in their own time. If the girl she picked up was drinking underage, the police were there- why didn’t they deal with her? The girl that went to get her friend from the party is a true friend, she did not want her friend to drive and put herself and others in serious danger. As to the parents, I raised 3 children of my own and a few extras...any day of the week I would rather someone, anyone pick up one of my kids in that situation, at least they are safe. Any other issue can be dealt with later, as long as the child is still alive. This was an issue for parents, and law enforcement and the school needs to butt out of it.

So you would not drive for a friend whod had too many drinks? Ever?Alas, poor Mr. Jones cannot drive an automobile. In order to maintain his position of looking down his nose at every one, he has to keep his head tilted so far back that all he can see is the sun visor.

Evidence of “liberal decay” here is condoning the school for being involved in something that is none of their business.

A zero tolerance policy on drugs and alcohol for its students is not the nanny state, its setting a proper standard for an institution that someone is going to earn a diploma from.so we now allow schools to create "law" that reaches beyond education in the school?
sorry Jedi - thats a nanny state
and you're buying into it.
State run schools have no business reaching into our homes and lives
