The son of a slain Sikh temple president plans to challenge U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan in next year's congressional election, in a Wisconsin district where support for the 2012 Republican vice presidential nominee has been strong but slipping.
Amar Kaleka, 35, told The Associated Press he'll file paperwork Wednesday to form an exploratory congressional committee. He plans to formally announce his candidacy as a Democrat next month.
Kaleka said he wants to bring accountability and transparency back to Washington. He blamed the government shutdown on Ryan, who's the House Budget Committee chairman, and his GOP colleagues. He said citizens are tired of career politicians who care more about staying in power than serving the people.

"Amar Kaleka, who grew up in Milwaukee and has been making documentaries in southern California for the past four years. He won an Emmy for his 2010 direction of Jacob's Turn, about a 4-year-old boy with Down syndrome who joins his first T-ball team."
This is not good, not good at all, he has enough emotional appeal that I don’t think Ryan stands a chance. And clearly, even as much of a letdown as Ryan has been lately, he still looks like a diamond in the rough next to this guy ...
People will think the guy is Muslim.
A guy in the polling booth sees two names - Paul Ryan and Amar Kaleka. In India, it’s Amar Kaleka in a landslide. Here, I’ll put my money on Paul Ryan.
Oh no! If Ryan loses, this guy will vote with Dems on the budgetary issues and push for open immigration... er, ah...
Nevermind.
The truthful Sikhs sit by the True Guru's side and serve Him. The false ones search, but find no place of rest.
So the Collaborator, Ryan, has drawn some type of opponent from the Democrats.
My give a damn is busted.
Sorry, until Ryan can man up and stand up for conservative principles, whether he loses or wins really doesn’t matter while he collaborates with the enemy.
“He said citizens are tired of career politicians who care more about staying in power than serving the people.”
Yes, I’m tired of Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats in general too.
LOL they all say that!
I personally know Paul Ryan’s district. It’s ~55% Democrat. Paul Ryan will raise a bunch of money off of this... and then will win with about 56% to 60%+ of the vote, with or without the additional fundraising money.
Emotional appeal is important for people who are stupid. Or for selling things like cars...
Oh I agree completely, the problem is the sheer number of stupid people in the US - doesn’t that explain who got elected to run the White House and the Senate in 2012 in the first place?
Good riddance to the amnesty king. Maybe will come back on Mark Levin then to beg for conservatives to turn out.
As much as I dislike Ryan for his chicanery, I think you are right. He’ll win by 6 percentage points.
By and large, people do not elect representatives with radically different religious beliefs. It’s a subconscious thing. I doubt a scientologist could be elected outside Tom Cruise’ district, nor a Mormon outside of the traditional Mormon states.
Kaleka said he wants to bring accountability and transparency back to Washington.
Gee: Where have I heard that one before?
The shocker here is that Kaleka is a Democrat!
OMG!
your a funny guy ‘freedom462....
is your real name chicken little?
