Well ill be damned,, I never knew that about the author of the pledge. I just read about Bellamy, his politics, and the salute he invented. He was fired from the pulpit for preaching socialist sermons. There are creepy photos of kids doing his Nazi style salute towards the US flag.
That became unfashionable in 1941.
