According to a Washington Post report Wednesday morning, 59-year-old Janice Baker officially became the first confirmed enrollee in the Delaware Obamacare exchange that opened, as most other exchanges did, on October 1.

Having tried to sign up online and via telephone starting on October 1, and continuing her efforts over the course of more than two weeks, Baker was repeatedly frustrated by error messages online and hours of waiting on the phone. She finally succeeded after deleting all temporary data, browsing history, and cookies on her computer.

According to the report, Delaware Health and Social Service officials were so happy to sign up their first enrollee that they celebrated.

Who pays the subsidy?

Theoretically, the young -- who are being over-charged. And those who don't choose to be insured -- and pay the penalty.

In actual fact, since the young won't choose to be insured -- because they are being over-charged -- and will choose the cheaper penalty, it will be the taxpayers who end up paying the subsidy.

Of course...

The GAO now estimates the total net cost of Obamacare to the taxpayers at 2.6 trillion over ten years (vs 0.9 trillion when the bill was passed). But it will end up being over 5 trillion by the time it's all said and done.

If this was all about insuring the uninsured, why, oh why, didn't we just buy them all a policy?

“Though she declined to go into detail about the plan she chose, Baker said she’ll now be paying $700 per month for her health insurance.”

Not too shabby. Only $10,000 per year, and that's PRE-deductible, which if stories in the liberal media are true, are only about another 10-20K/yr.

Nice job democrats.

You OWN this.

I'm going around on every message board telling people to thank the democrats for everything.

Can't EVER blame a republican again. Sorry.

The only ‘cookies’ that I know how to deal with on my computer are the ones I baked myself. I certainly cannot do such work on my computer.

She supposedly runs a dog kennel..based on her gushing comments, I’d suspect an SEIU/OFA/MoveOn etc connection.

Wow, I remember when this thing was scored to break even in the first ten years...shifting medicare ‘savings’ allegedly through stopping fraud and abuse.

Back then I asked...what about year 11.

Now its openly admitted to be a multi-trillion dollar loss?

Using governmentspeak, that means it will soon be an annual $trillion, give or take.

But her $10,000 deductible is not applied to free birth control, mamagrams once every five years, and a flu shot.

All that free stuff is what makes it so great!

Now she can enter the cougar scene with no worries about getting pregnant since she gets her free birth control. Not that many 59 year old women are going to need birth control, but it's her gift from Sandra Fluke and the DNC for being an Obama supporter.

“No....seriously.....the lunch is free. We do have a $10 cover charge, though.”

“What’s the cover charge for?”

“Entertainment.”

“Entertainment? I don’t see any band.”

“No, the entertainment is for me. I get really entertained seeing dumbs**ts like you who think there is such a thing as a free lunch.”

Touche! I couldn't have said it better.

Funny how 20 year olds are now going to pay for granny's "free" mammograms and colonoscopies.

But that $9/month birth control at Walmart was just too "onerous" to bear, huh?

Hahahahaha....ENJOY, you Millennial pukes who put Obama in office.

Enjoy your 29 hour per week McJob.

Enjoy trying to find a doctor who speaks English when you need medical care.

Enjoy trying to make it in the cold hard world when you try to move up and have a career.

Touch that nice 40K per year juicy "salary". Now you get to be taxed out the wazoo because you have committed the crime of being young and healthy.

Sleep soundly, my pretties. It's only going to get WORSE.

Oh, so much worse, but that's not important, right?

Remember hopey changey, and proving you're not a racist by voting for some kinda sorta maybe black-type guy?

Suck it.

>> I’d suspect an SEIU/OFA/MoveOn etc connection.

I agree. I still love to see the particulars on these ObamaCare “success” stories. I make more than 400% of the poverty rate and I could not afford any of these plans without a major lifestyle change.

And, when that day comes, my first lifestyle change is to quit my job. I’m not working in the Obamunist economy unless my job gets turned into a “no-show” type of job where they’re just happy to get any productivity out of me.

Me too. My wife and I were going to rent a car last month, but got a bunch of runaround despite renting a car there only three weeks before.

After asking for still more proof I live where I live, despite many ID’s and same proof we brought last time, it was suggested I go back to my house to fetch more.

I told my wife that our car would work just fine, and we took it instead and had $250 more to spend on vacation. I can only tolerate limited stupidity.
