At the last GOP conference meeting of the two-week government shutdown, no lawmakers went to the microphones to give their take.
Instead, after Speaker John Boehner told Republicans they had fought the good fight, they all rose up to offer a standing ovation. It was one of the easiest meetings weve ever had, says Representative Mick Mulvaney of South Carolina.
I think he has strengthened his position in leadership, Representative John Fleming says about Boehner. He hung in there with us. Hes been reluctant to go to these fights and now that we have stood up and fought for our values and hes been there with us, leading, I think his stock has risen tremendously. He has great security as our leader and our speaker.
The message from Boehner and majority leader Eric Cantor was unity, with warnings not to point fingers of blame.
Everyone in this room ran on the Republican ticket, Cantor told colleagues.

LOL, you gotta be kidding me....
McCornhole in the Senate is the traitor. Let the primarying begin.
Time to identify 100 cowards for removal. It may be too late for the country by then.
John Fleming is a collaborator. Schock is beyond traitor.
This is too much.
We have lost the house for 2014. We just don’t know it for sure yet. However, the writing is on the wall.
Pelosi will take the gavel again guys. It’s over.
Who, me? About what?
A standing ovation for losing the fight that he never fought to begin with,.
Ted Cruz fought the good fight, the rest of them sold him out.
Yes. Folding like whimpering, whipped curs is always easier than standing like a man.
Sure, they didn’t have a problem bad-mouthing Cruz, Lee, Paul and other Tea Party members. Now, on the verge of capitulating once again, they want everybody to hold hands and hum.
RIIIIIIIGHT!
The GOP will not get another vote, nor another dime, from me until (unlikely) they RINOs are out of leadership.
Time for secession, F&ck the GOP.
My only point of disagreement is that I don’t think “we” have lost the House because I no longer choose to affiliate myself with the Republican Party.
“They” have lost the House. They’ll find out soon enough.
Now they look like exactly what the media made them out to be. They held the govt hostage and didn’t even get any ransom money. They can sure as hell count on one thing, if they don’t run a real, true conservative, I will NEVER show up to vote again. I’m DONE with these rotten bastards taking advantage of us, using us to take the house in 2010 just to bend us over and ram it up our collective a**es. Let’s just move full ahead with one party rule.
Here ya go.
The GOPe has made it clear they hate us just as much, or possibly even more, than the Democrats do.
I could not care less if they ever win another election anywhere.
A legit third party can’t get here soon enough as far as I am concerned.
Boehner said not to point finger, so King pointed fingers.
What a leader.
What did Schock do? I used to have high hopes for him but he’s been pretty worthless the past two years.
I just noticed for the first day in months, I am not getting fundraising calls from a 202 number. Haha. They wouldn’t dare call base voters today.
“Representative Aaron Schock of Illinois said the lesson of the episode was that Boehner should cut out the far-right flank and work with centrist Democrats.”
DISGRACE!
