In 2006 the people of Michigan proposed a constitutional amendment that would ban affirmative action in college admissions. The people voted on it and the people passed it into law with nearly 60% of voters approving.

Today we await a US Supreme court decision on whether that clearly settled law will stand.

Ann said on Beck’s show that she wants to kep McConnell and Cornyn. She is either an idiot or is just selling books.

It became law without both houses ever voting on the same bill.

Uh, Ann? IF I recall correctly the reason the election of Scott Brown was such a big deal was it prevented the Senate from passing any bill that came out of a conference committee. That's why the House had to pass the Senate version which as we've all seen is a disjointed, poorly written pork stuffer. They did pass the same bill.

These mendacious Marxists talk about "settled law" - it's not cut in stone by the hand of God. It's a human construct, subject to reconsideration, amendment, and repeal.

Unfortunately, the Low-information Voters who feed at the MSM trough eat this nonsense up.

"Settled Law:"

Slavery.
Prohibition.
The "Three-fifths" provision.
Denial of Suffrage to women.
No direct taxation of income.
The laws of almost every state prohibiting abortion before the misbegotten case of Roe v. Wade.
The laws of almost every state outlawing Sodomy.
The laws of many states outlawing "miscegenation."

Not intended as an exhaustive list - there are other instances too numerous to count.

Last century a law was passed along with a Constitutional Amendment ratified by over 30 states of the Union prohibiting the sale of alcohol. It was by all accounts the settled Law of the Nation. And what happened to that settled law. It was later repealed by a overwhelming vote in Congress as well as the vote of the States of the Union. So much for the history of settled law.

As much as I’d like to share this the link takes me back to either another story or one with no title.

Is “settled law” anything like the “settled science” of anthropogenic global warming? < /sarc >
