WP: Business Groups Stand By Boehner, Plot Against Tea Party (groups compare tea party to Taliban)
Washington Post ^ | 10/17/2013 | Washington Post

Despite presiding over a chamber that nearly drove the country to a debt default, John A. Boehner still has the enduring support of a group that would’ve been most harmed by that event: the business community.

Rather than revisit their strategy of supporting Republicans after this week’s near-disaster, influential organizations such as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce are standing behind Boehner.

More importantly, Boehner’s friends in the business community are getting ready to take sides in a few Republican primary races against tea party candidates in Michigan, Idaho and Alabama who could cause the House speaker more trouble.

Um, right now the Taliban is kicking our butt out of Afghanistan. Do they really want to compare us?

Agreed. Boehner has been a one-legged man in a arse-kicking contest and I can’t imagine he’s enjoying his job as Speaker very much, especially when he continually comes away from every fight on the national stage with his head hanging down, looking beaten and pitiful. He’s a nice guy but just doesn’t have the fire in the belly that’s necessary to go toe-to-toe with the incredibly vitriolic and ruthless Dem party.

What you have witnessed is the merger of the Democratic and Republican parties into the Democratic-Republican Party. This party is owned and operated by an amalgam of Wall Street, the international banking community, Big Business, Big Labor, the Foreign Policy Community and the Military-Industrial Complex. It is financed by a system of legalized bribery set up after the Watergate affair. Its aim is the maintenance of a world oligopoly based on the fiat dollar and Full Spectrum Dominance of the rest of the world. It has no interest in the people, having dumbed them down to the point where they are serfs dependent on government checks. We live in a totalitarian fascist dictatorship that maintains just enough of the trappings of democracy to fool the people, who are kept drugged with reality television and professional sports. It is backed by a surveillance state and a media owned and operated by these interests.

This state of affairs will last until China and its allies are ready to take it down, much as we took down the Soviet Union. The result will not be pretty for the small handful of people who survive it.

I’m confused.

According to these people, al Queda is bunch of freedom fighters no different than George Washington.

But it sounds like they’re trying to insult us right wingers....

I agree, but what I liked best was your statement that the individual representative needs to be held accountable for the deeds of leadership. We have every right to expect that our representatives hold the leadership to the same standards we use in selecting our own elected officials.

It’s time to go “political Galt”. Ignore them. No phone calls. No letters. No emails. No calling in to talk radio. And especially no money. Just pretend the republicans don’t exist. Because they don’t. For nobody to be bitchin’ will scare them more than anything.

We still support Tea Party candidates. But act like they don’t have any opposition. I know this will drive the republicans nuts. Anytime the republican candidate is mentioned say “I’m not aware of who you’re talking about.” If it’s one thing the professional politician craves it’s attention. Without it they will whither and die.

I think it is pathetic that these business guys are so reliant on government $ for their success. The only thing they should need government for is laws and regulations that protect businesses. If the economy depends of the government remaining open and increasing debt, then it is a house of cards anyway and someday, it’s all going to come crashing down.

To do that you need to win elections. The next chance will be 2014 and then 2016. Perhaps in 2017 you can begin to do that, but Americans don’t like revolutions. Slow and steady wins the race.
