Ah...that is exactly what they could claim. Its like the old question - How many countries are there in the United Kingdom? The answer is one - Scotland. Wales is a principality, Northern Ireland is a province, and England isn't a legal entity, as we have no separate parliament. So basically, yes, England is no longer a nation. Not since the Union act was signed in 1707 in fact.

Minorities often whine about how hard it is to maintain their uniqueness and their "culture" in the face of an overwhelming majority, but in fact I'e always found the opposite is true. If you are part of the majority, you lose all cultural identity. You become just the standard against which everyone else judges themselves.
