MOSCOW (Reuters) - An explosion ripped through a bus in the southern Russian city of Volgograd on Monday, killing at least five people and injuring 12 others, an Emergency Situations Ministry official said. There were conflicting reports about the cause of the blast. Interfax news agency cited an unnamed source as saying it was a bomb, while RIA cited city police as saying preliminary information indicated it the explosion was an accident caused by a problem with gas equipment. Volgograd is a large city that lies north of the North Caucasus, a string of mostly Muslim provinces where the government is trying to quell an Islamist insurgency rooted in two post-Soviet separatist wars in Chechnya.

Who would want to hurt peace loving Muslims?

Other not so peace-loving Muslims.

Muslims are in much greater danger from other Muslims than they are from any adherents of any other ideology on earth.

Failure to pursue the goal of a world-wide Caliphate with sufficient zeal is a crime punishable by death throughout Islam. Failure to agree who should be in charge of this world-wide Caliphate is also punishable by death.

Do not mistake Islam for a religion, It is an ideology, much like that described in "Mein Kampf" or "Das Kapital". The religious trappings are camouflage. They are in no way compatible with the other "great religions" of the world.

People don't have much trouble hating Scientology, now do they? Well, Scientology is a much more rational practice of faith than Islam. At least, it sticks to a certain consistency, if a foolish one. Islam is self-contradictory and dedicated to the exploitation of chaos.

What goes around, come around...

The Russians supply anybody and everybody with weapons, know-how and nuclear facilities. When Muzzies come back to bite them, they are incensed. Putin needs a massive dose of his own medicine.

This article is terribly misleading about the city. Volgograd is not in the Caucasus at all, nor does it have any affiliation with the unrest in that region. Volgograd is the city formerly known as Stalingrad (from WW2 fame). It is located about the same distance from Chechnya and Dagestan as Sochi is. It’s population is around 90% ethnic Russian, and Muslims make up around 3% of its total population.

Could this have been a Chechen bomb? Absolutely. But Volgograd itself isn’t some Caucasus hotbed of Islamic insurgency like Grozny.

Is there any possibility of this having to do with the movement against immigrants in Russia?

I have never heard Putin tell the world have much Muslims have done for his country. And the US has supplied weapons and money to all kinds of regimes. I will take Putin over Obama any day.

I doubt it. The Islamist separatists from the Caucasus are usually pretty methodical planners, from what I usually see. With Reuters confirming that it was a “Black Widow” from Dagestan who did this, I would assume that this has been in the works for awhile.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure that some people will draw the parallel to score political points. Kind of like a certain Coptic Orthodox film released right before Benghazi (cough cough).
