Jay Carney: White House cooperates with 'legitimate' congressional oversight
Washington Examiner ^ | October 22, 2013 | Brian Hughes

White House press secretary Jay Carney on Tuesday made an apparent dig at Republicans, demanding that more administration officials testify about Obamacare’s woes on Capitol Hill.

“We cooperate with all legitimate congressional oversight,” Carney said, seeming to brush aside many of the current inquiries coming from Republican lawmakers.

However, Carney insisted that he wasn’t dismissing GOP-backed hearings on Obamacare as illegitimate.

“I think everybody here who wasn’t born yesterday has seen questionable congressional oversight in the past,” Carney said.

Contractors responsible for implementing the Obamacare website, which Carney insisted Tuesday was “improving,” will testify Thursday before the House Energy and Commerce Committee. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius declined an invite but is expected to testify next Wednesday on Capitol Hill.

House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Darrell Issa, R-Calif., is launching an investigation into the Office of Management and Budget over the implementation of the Obamacare website.

Carney declined to weigh in on Issa, who has consistently clashed with the White House.

"Is this Chairman Issa's committee?” Carney asked reporters.

He simply added, “We'll see.”

“House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Darrell Issa, R-Calif.,”

What part of house committee on oversight and government reform does Carney not understand?

The Valerie Plame “CIA operative” media circus that led to Lewis “Scooter” Libby’s wrongful conviction on charges of perjury comes to my mind.

B*st*rd. According to the U.S. Constitution, which you are sworn to uphold, EVERY committee chair of either house of Congress is “legitimate” and possesses oversight authority over your pathetic a** Mr. Shipman.

Where does the Constitution say anything about “legitimate oversight?”

“We cooperate with all legitimate congressional oversight,” Carney said,

That's the problem with 0bamaCare and the reason I won't comply.

Wishful thinking.. Nobody gonna lay a finger on this guy. He has a free pass to destroy the country anyway he wants.

"Co-equal" and "makes its own rules" says that it's not up to the White House to say what is or isn't "legitimate" in the House.

Interesting use of the term “legitimate” given that the Dork-O-Dent is indeed an “illegitimate” child...and is truly a b*stard in EVERY sense of the word.

Sorry, libs, but that’s the twuuuuuuth!

In other words: “we don’t even recognize that the House of Represenatives is controlled by republicans. It’s a total fluke and should be igored, since their authority isn’t legitimate. If the Senate asks for something, we comply, because the democratic control of the Senate is the natural order of things.”

"Legitimate congressional oversight"

That's a shocking remark that should have been met with gasps and outrage. We're in dangerous waters.

They should start drafting the articles now. Have the Senate vote after the 2014 mid-term elections.

.... We're in dangerous waters.

I think they're just salivating for an impeachment process to begin. The MSM has articles written and ready to "send."

For them it would be a great backdrop and roaring good political theater leading up to Hillary's election.

So they are now telling the American people a representative that is sent to Congress with a vote can be deemed illegitimate and not recognized by a President. Everyday, it just gets more frightening.

Congress can and should defund this dweeb and almost all other Obama hacks. That will teach them that oversight is mandatory, not optional.
