In all fairness, the US military is authorized 652 flag officers (generals and admirals). For the Army, 231. For the Navy, 162. For the Air Force, 198. For the Marine Corps, 61.
Because most don’t even reach flag grade before the typical 20 year military retirement, in the best of times they are short lived. Likewise, any mistake, even minor ones, is often a career ender for them.
Even in wartime, commanding generals don’t last long.
And don’t expect to see any “love lost” between flag officers. While senior flag officers may encourage their subordinates, it is up to congress to promote them. But peers see each other as competitors, and senior subordinate officers see them as “being in the way”, because of the mandated limits to the number of flag officers.
Officers serve at the pleasure of the president. If the US is still around, I hope our next American president invites them back.

On the day after the election they would have approached Obama, congress, and the courts and demanded certifiable evidence that Obama was a natural born citizen and not a usurper. If the evidence was not forthcoming within the week they should have VERY PUBLICALLY RESIGNED.
Then the next level of officers should have VERY PUBLICALLY RESIGNED and the process continued down to the very last officer.
Personally...I am disgusted.

I don’t think it is unreasonable to believe we need to come to the end of that book. The situation is pretty bleak.
