Christopher Ruddy: Don't Delay Obamacare

I'm baffled by calls from opponents of Obamacare to delay implementation of the Affordable Care Act.

There is growing support among Democrats, and perhaps even the White House, to support a delay.

Now, a number of conservatives I respect are among those who support a one-year delay as a first step toward abolishing Obamacare. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio is now seeking to delay implementation of the individual mandate for at least six months.

The thinking apparently is that once Obamacare is fully in force, it will be with us forever. I believe that is not necessarily the case.

The key to stopping Obamacare is for its opponents to win in congressional elections in 2014. Delaying Obamacare only helps the Democrats who support this boondoggle.

Just look at the poll numbers showing widespread opposition to Obamacare. A CNN poll last month disclosed that 57 percent of Americans now oppose the bill, and just 39 percent support it. An earlier survey by a Heritage Foundation affiliate found that 77 percent of respondents opposed Obamacare.

Even the labor unions that backed Obama and had supported his healthcare reform bill have now turned against it over concerns that members could lose their current healthcare coverage, and the powerful AFL-CIO is calling for significant changes in the law.

So now the Democrats want a delay but two weeks ago that just was a travesty? I agree with Chris. Let the Democrats own their Obamacare mess. Delaying it is stupid. It only made sense as a point of negotiation which the President rejected. The only way I'd ever go along with a delay is if it meant removing the mandate altogether and protections for conscience and religious liberty for employers and employees. Free people should never be forced into a program like Obamacare. If it is so good then they would be excited to join. Obamacare is about two things of course, POWER & CONTROL. You don't need a massive bureaucracy to help a few million poor people get health insurance. You don't have to mess with employers and involve the damn IRS to help poor people get healthcare! Obamacare was from conception a horrible mess based on wrong headed thinking that in order to help solve an isolated problem we have to redesign and add even more bureaucracy to everyone's healthcare. Obamacare is healthcare on stupid.

I tend to agree with him - we must oppose anything that’s going to make this abomination more palatable. Let the people that voted for it feel the maximum pain, then we may have a chance to take over the senate.

So I’m against Rubio’s idea. (I’ve come to the conclusion he’s not very smart)

I was floored when the “stupid party” offered to delay Mengelecare for the rats. Delay it? And give the rats a chance to spin the story, and maybe get past the 2014s unscathed by their own obscene nightmare?? I was even more flabberghasted the rats didn’t eat the GOP offer up as fast as they could.

I’m sure they now wish they had. The question is, why are there still some Republicans who want to throw the rats a lifeline by delaying Mengelecare? It would be nice to see them finally do something smart and just let Ubama and the rats twist in the wind. Give them a delay and this is how they will thank the GOP: “The Republicans’ government shutdown screwed up the launch of Mengelecare, and so we now have no alternative but to protect Americans from Republican irresponsibility.”

What a stupid strategy.

We're supposed to let obamacare take effect, damage our country, and then cross our fingers that the same idiots who put this clown in office, TWICE, will suddenly see the light, vote republican, we can repeal obamacare and live happily ever after.

Do any of you actually think the media will let Obama own this failure? Obamacare's failure, and everything else bad that happens between now and election time will be the fault of the tea party and the republicans. the media will make sure of it and the low information masses will lap it up.

everything is going to be our fault anyway, we should fight this thing (obamacare) tooth and nail, every step of the way. Do the right thing by trying to head off its damage to our country, not try some zen, kung fu political strategy to try and score points.

This "strategy" is being pushed by the wusses in congress who are too afraid to stand up and fight this thing because the media might talk bad about them.

Get a clue, morons, the media will talk bad about you regardless.

What is Ruddy talking about?

Since Cruz returned home to eight-minute standing ovations, the only voices I've heard calling for a delay now are coming from frightened Democrats.

Oh, the schadenfreude.

My kids and I have discussed this all along. Why delay it? So it can slowly gather control before elections?

Delay nothing. A lot of folks voted for Obama in 2012 because they thought this was a great law - he INTENTIONALLY made sure this horrid rollout didn’t happen until after the election. Now people want to delay it - “see, it’s not so bad!”.

I say delay nothing. People need to see this vicious law in all it’s great, shining glory.

Delay nothing.

Oh not only that, I say go to full throttle and engage the Supercharger..

* Pass a bill that Congress, the WH, and the Supreme Court is not exempt from Obamacare.
* In this bill all Obama Business Waivers are removed as well.
* All the Union Waivers that go to 2018, are null and void and they are no longer exempt.

This is like saying: go intentionally break your leg so we can show how terrible the doctor is who will set it and cast it. Then maybe we can get him fired.

Nothanks.

Not a fan of allowing the federal government to expand exponentially, even if it could maybe possibly hopefully be only temporary.

What many people are ignoring is the fact that a great part of FUBOcare’s damage has already occurred.

Prohibition was over turned but only after a ground swell from women. It really was a nail biter. But it happened because it was a bad law.

I see the same thing happening here.

Let this law run its course. We are seeing first hand the democrats at action here from Pelosi to Reid etc.

Lets get a Senate majority and then we can do something.

To delay this now is stupid. And I rank Marco Rubio up there very high as being totally stupid and naïve.

Oh and by the way...did any one hear about the tongue lashing Bob Beckel got from the WH for saying we should delay this?

The time to delay it would have been back in August or September before the cancelation notices went out. The genie is out of the bottle now. About all they can do is extend the enrollment and penalty dates. To do anything constructive would require some democrats to switch sides on the issue..

I completely agree with Mr. Ruddy. If Ocare is a bad idea, which it is, then it’s a bad idea NOW OR in the future. Delay the mandate? It’s unenforceable anyway. Just get rid of the whole ball of wax and start over.

Delaying the law only turns the less informed into frogs - not recognizing that the water temperature is increasing to the boiling point. I say enforce it in spades. No exemptions, no delays, full enforcement of all penalties. Anything less means we have a king that can decide which parts of the law will be enforced and which will be ignored. [Yes, I know what we have. Save your typing fingers.]
