A Michigan-based energy company has given up a six-year battle to drill for natural gas in southeastern Pennsylvania’s upper Bucks County, citing opposition from local government.

Terry Bela, manager of Arbor Resources, told The Philadelphia Inquirer on Tuesday that Nockamixon Township’s elected officials “made it impossible for the company to move forward.”

Arbor had signed hundreds of leases with landowners to drill exploratory wells, but Nockamixon Township fought the plan, arguing that the land wasn’t zoned for heavy industry.

Township attorney Jordan Yeager said the company sent him a letter last week saying it would drop its legal efforts.

State lawmakers last year said no drilling permits could be issued in Bucks and Montgomery counties pending a study of how much drillable gas is beneath them.

I wonder how the law makers thought that study was going to be done? Hire a Psychic? Ouija Board? Roll Dice?

The rest of the world measures the gas beneath the ground by exploratory drilling and flow testing a few wells.

The ones that have corrupted the name Environmentalists have had to start corrupting government and media (Oxymoron) to stop the oil competing with OPEC. The USA is predicted to become an oil exporting nation by 2020. When Sara becomes president I would think that date would 2017.

Get permission in Northhampton County and drill horizontally.

Bucks is LOADED with liberal New Yorker Yuppies who commute into the Rotten Apple and back every day.

The residents of places like Lycoming, Sullivan, and Bradford County in Pennsylvania thank Bucks County very much! If Bucks County doesn’t want to bring their gas to market, it makes fracking elsewhere much more attractive.

Bucks County is where Romney had a great last ditch campaign effort. In fact with all the people that showed up I thought he was going to win.

I grew up there and my family is still there. Many immigrants, but yes some libs from my birthplace, New York (I was born in the Bronx). Many farms (great farmland) are now housing developments, even near Bowmans tower and Washington’s Crossing. They did preserve some farms so there is money somewhere.

Along the delaware and in most of the older towns are Colonial time built homes. It is still gorgeous.

River road is a drive back in time all the way up to Water Gap excluding Easton. Jersey side is just as nice. Got lost in N. Jersey say 15 yrs ago? and took a picture of a black bear sitting in a driveway. I haven’t been back but the housing bubble probably destroyed that life.

By the time I get out of the east I’ll have to go to the Yukon to find some peace and quiet.

Bucks County is the PA version of San Francisco. Queer as three dollar bill. They allow plenty of drilling during this event.

New Hope Celebrates Pride, an annual eight-day festival, is the largest of its kind in the entire region.

I’ve been to New Hope. It’s a nice little town but it’s longtime status as an artist colony has made it a gay mecca since the 1950’s. There was a joke from some time ago that at one point, New Hope had no hardware store, but did have three gay bars.

No sense in fighting the Bucks County government when there’s ample opportunity throughout the state, and in areas that welcome the economic boom.
