Exclusive--Poll: VA Gov Race A Toss Up
http://www.breitbart.com ^ | 24 Oct 2013, 7:12 AM PDT | by Mike Flynn

A new poll, provided exclusively to Breitbart News, finds the Virginia Governor's race a virtual dead-heat, with Democrat Terry McAuliffe leading Republican Ken Cuccinelli 41%-40%. Libertarian Robert Sarvis garners 10% and 9% of likely voters remain undecided. With less than two weeks to go, the race is a toss-up that will likely be decided by turnout, a critical factor in an off-year election.

The poll comes from Wenzel Strategies, which accurately predicted closing momentum for Sens. Ted Cruz, Rand Paul and Deb Fischer, among others. The slight edge McAuliffe holds is due mostly to stronger support within his partisan base. 81% of Democrats support McAuliffe, against just 68% of Republicans who support Cuccinelli.

Cuccinelli's support seems be building, however, has public attention moves away from the recent government shutdown to the failing implementation of ObamaCare. Cuccinelli was a leading national figure suing to overturn the health care law.

The closeness of the race is apparent in the millions spent by left-wing groups to support McAuliffe in the closing days. In addition, Hillary and Bill Clinton, close allies of McAuliffe have made themselves permanent fixtures in the Commonwealth campaign on his behalf.

“There’s a reason the Clintons have been called in to spend a week campaigning for McAuliffe and that Bloomberg is pouring in millions with 2 weeks to go,” Brian Baker, President of Ending Spending Action Fund, which commissioned the poll told Breitbart News. “Their internals must be showing what our poll indicates -- that his unfavorables are high and they must try to suppress Cuccinelli turnout to prevail. All indications are that the numbers are closing, especially post shutdown. The focus will be where the undecideds go and what will Sarvis draw. With the race this close, the poll indicates a vote for Sarvis is a vote for McAuliffe.”

He won it because he spent more money in NVA driving up Romney’s negatives. That is the strategy McAuliffe has been trying. NVA is more blue but not nearly as blue as people assume. McDonnell won nearly all of it when he took the state in 2009 with 60%. Virginia is a state you have to fight for as are most states. The GOP too often wants it easy.

As am I. I’ve been taking my kids out. Luckily I’m in between projects now.

Hmm. That must be why Scott Rasmussen was tossed out of his polling company (not including conservative Christians!)

Libertarians often get less than they poll. People get into the booth and don’t want to throw their vote away.

Would like to believe this poll is true, it is certainly an outlier compared to all of the other polls recently conducted in this race.

I don’t like being a pessimist, but VA has turned deeply blue in recent years (much of which can be attributed to the growth of big government in the northern part of the state)....voting for BHO twice and two liberal senators.

Well it did close the race and of course Virginia is not NJ. Also we have won against huge financial disadvantages and media disadvantages. Scott Walker, the 2010 election. We were seriously outspent by the left. I still believe we could’ve won NJ and its a travesty we didn’t but we can’t keep waiting for polls and waiting for the establishment and waiting for the media. We had two races at the end of the year and Lonegan was left with a paltry sum to run his race and still managed to almost knock Booker down to single digits from what was an insurmountable lead.

We just need to get with it and just start focusing. Scott Browns race was an example of what happens when we do it right. He raised 12 million in just a couple weeks with most of it coming from people like us. We have great power if we take action but as long as our candidates are left to be outspent we get the America we deserve because the other side is fighting and they are spending and they are transforming our country into a place that is foreign and hostile to the America and the values we hold dear.

I am beginning to hate FReepers that refuse to fight and post defeatist crap. Just read the past threads where mcawful is leading by 5000%! They need to read this and then go sit in a damned corner with a pointed little cap on their heads.

Shame on Libertarians if McCauliffe gets elected, even if there’s fraud.

I think the daily reports of the Obamacare collapse is hurting Terry and will continue to election day.

Go Ken!

Some candidates get lucky. Regardless of our feelings about a candidate on the left some are capable while others are morons.
Coakley was and to this day remains a moron.

“I don’t know what the heck happened to Virginia this past 4 years”

The trememdous growth in the Federal workforce. I bet a lot of those now reside in Virginia and will vote for Obama.

Hillary and Bill dropped by---making sure the Dem
vote fraud meat grinder is in tip-top shape for Cuccinelli.

======================================

SEEMS LIKE OLD TIMES--Hilly cheered on McAuliffe during his losing 2009 gov campaign.

Haven't you all heard....money is pouring into McAuliffe's campaign....

Virginia TV airs 2-3 McAuliffe ads against Cuccinelli ads---McAuliffe must be spending easily ten, twenty, fifty times what Cuccinelli is spending. B/c McAuliffe's got zillions at his disposal.

McAuliffe is apparently polling well---and prolly receiving mucho campaign cash---from the "dearly departed" b/c a lawsuit Democrats filed says “the [VA State Board of Elections] is rushing to complete the purging of dead voters in time to have the desired effect on the upcoming gubernatorial election.....to make sure that those who no longer live here don’t vote here."

(cackle) The "dearly departed" are also Hillary voters.

The buzz is Terry is 2016 Hillary's place-keeper. If elected, grave-robber Terry will insure she has the votes to win. (That's after he rapes the VA state treasury.)

The desperate power-mad Clintons are no doubt financing their old buddy McAuliffe.......b/c the Clintons have three (count 'em) three tax-exempt foundations worth millions to siphon off money from.

==============================================

AS FREEPER SCOTTINVA POSTED:

Alex Trebek: "The state that transformed itself from a cradle of American liberty to the laughing stock of the country when its voting populace chose to be fooled into thinking a corrupt, gladhanding, empty-suited hustler and ripoff artist was somehow preferable over a seasoned, serious conservative Attorney General."

Contestant: "What is Virginia?"

The good news about libertarians in Virginia is that both Pauls have endorsed Cuccinelli.

“Do you believe that obama is at 52% approval?”

No. Rasmussen is the ONLY poll that shows this. At least 5 other polls show the Marxist in the low to mid 40’s. Rasmussen is now unreliable.

he out polls his positions. Think about that single minded devotion.
Reminds me of Germans in the 1930’s.

It will be interesting to see the final outcome of this race. Most polls
aren’t showing the race that close.

on Oct. 20, 2013 finds McAuliffe @ 50%, Cuccinelli @ 33%, Robert Sarvis @ 8%,
other @ 3% and undecided @ 5%.
