Exclusive: Feds confiscate investigative reporter’s confidential files during raid
The Daily Caller ^ | October 25, 2013 | Alex Pappas

A veteran Washington D.C. investigative journalist says the Department of Homeland Security confiscated a stack of her confidential files during a raid of her home in August — leading her to fear that a number of her sources inside the federal government have now been exposed.

In an interview with The Daily Caller, journalist Audrey Hudson revealed that the Department of Homeland Security and Maryland State Police were involved in a predawn raid of her Shady Side, Md. home on Aug. 6. Hudson is a former Washington Times reporter and current freelance reporter.

A search warrant obtained by TheDC indicates that the August raid allowed law enforcement to search for firearms inside her home.

Most of the media are already too afraid to speak out against the regime. They are afraid of a police raid at their homes and the IRS showing up. NSA is already tracking all their emails and phone calls, so they are on pins and needles now and watching what they say.

Do the press really think they’re going to have any of their First Amendment rights left when these bozos are done?!??!! How shortsighted can they be???

As long as they report the party line they keep their cushy, high paying jobs and get to remain on TV. They know exactly what they are doing. You are assuming they have some journalistic ethics and an interest in the truth. They do not. They are the mouthpieces of evil; tools of the regime. Cogs in the machine.

"I never requested or executed a search warrant that did not include some verbiage like “or any other materials or objects evidencing violations of local, State, or Federal ordinances, statutes or laws.”, in the description of what was to be searched or seized."

WHICH IS IN VIOLATION OF THE 4TH AMENDMENT WHICH STATES ALL WARRANTS MUST BE SPECIFIC AS TO WHAT IS BEING SEARCHED FOR.

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Particulary describing is important. You can't just say "whatever we find we might think is illegal".

I wonder how many national socialist, true believers were surprised to find their sons sent to Stalingrad and their daughters worked to exhaustion in state run factories.

When you dream of an all powerful state it might take a bit of wisdom to realize it’s a nightmare.

Is “resisting arrest” a felony now?

“The document notes that her husband, Paul Flanagan, pleaded guilty in 1986 to resisting arrest in Prince George’s County. The warrant called for police to search the residence they share and seize all weapons and ammunition because he is prohibited under the law from possessing firearms.”

This is why a number of us feel that this unnecessary loophole create in the CGA of ‘68 was a bad idea. No one likes the idea of violent felons having easy access to firearms, but this is the alternative.

From my view, this is a great danger/evil than the violent felon. At least against the felon, I would have some defense options.

I would imagine someone who doesn’t believe we live in a police state. If she is really an “investigative reporter”, she should have known better. How much more will Americans put up with before we go Egyptian?

Extra backups for work at at my home.

Extra backups for home are at my place of work.

Portable 2 TB drive with both are in an undisclosed location for tertiary backup.

All this and I have absolutely nothing anyone would be interested in but me.

....During the raid, the officers also went after Hudson’s three pistols and three long guns, which she obtained legally.

“I’m a Kentucky girl,” she said. “I come kitchen trained, and firearm ready. I grew up with guns and I’ve always been around guns.”

Hudson has been a reporter in Washington, D.C. for nearly 15 years and was nominated twice by The Washington Times for the Pulitzer Prize. She is a freelancer for Newsmax and the Colorado Observer. While at the Times, Hudson reported extensively on the air marshal program — specifically about whether Homeland Security officials had lied to Congress and reported protecting more flights than they really were. Using her sources inside the government, Hudson has also reported for years about possible terrorist “dry-runs” on airplanes.....

If I remember correctly and anyone who reads this please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, when Eric Holder was working for Clinton and Reno, this tactic was used to raid Waco. A judge from a neighboring County issued a warrant citing child welfare that was used for BATFE to raid the compound for weapons.

All investigative reporters need to keep long lists of individuals in the administration, with their names, addresses, and phone numbers, and they need to make sure they call those numbers. Maybe even meet with some of them. They also need to put their names down in appointment books on specific dates and times that they know or suspect certain individuals may potentially be available. The reporters need to lay a whole bunch of false trails to potentially incriminate administration hacks that they actually have never even met. Clog up the investigative resources. The investigators will never be able to figure out which one or two out of twenty false leads are actually whistleblowers. And if the administration ends up firing some of their own loyalists, well, that’s only good, isn’t it?

After the search began, Hudson said she was asked by an investigator with the Coast Guard Investigative Service if she was the same Audrey Hudson who had written a series of critical stories about air marshals for The Washington Times over the last decade.

Just making sure they had the right Audrey Hudson house -- unbelievable.

I hope she wasn't wearing a skirt during the raid or she should be asking for those pictures back as well.

The reporter was an idiot.

If you have sources inside the regime, you keep a thousand different copies of your material hidden in different locations around the globe... not a single copy located in your own home.
