President Obama’s legacy may include a stake in the heart of a cherished dream of the progressive left: complete government control of healthcare in America.
Obama has always wanted a single-payer, government-run healthcare system, and he set out a complicated but achievable path to get to that goal through Obamacare. The eventual failure of Obamacare would set the stage for single-payer healthcare.
Unfortunately for him, he designed Obamacare to fail in the wrong ways at the wrong times, making it harder, not easier to achieve his goal of completely socialized healthcare.
The rollout has been such a magnificent failure that every Democratic senator up for re-election in 2014 has demanded a full one year delay of the heart and soul of the law, the individual mandate. This is exactly what Sen. Ted Cruz was rallying the American people for over the last few months: to force Democrat senators to back a delay. At the same time, people like Sen. John McCain called his tactics “a fool’s errand.”
Pigs have flown, and Ted Cruz was right.
President Obama may have just done what Republicans and constitutionalists have been unable to do for over a century: break the back of the progressive dream of socialized medicine in America for good.

Cruz was trying to defund, not delay. I know Mike Lee said they’re technically the same thing. But I think their goal was to delay it perpetually until repeal time, so maybe not quite the same in practice.

Yes but his failure on purpose is accidentally failing too fast on purpose, actually not on purpose, you see it was supposed to fail on purpose but it was not supposed to fail quickly on purpose, it was supposed to fail slowly on purpose but it is failing fast accidentally on purpose or is it on purpose accidentally? There could be some truth to this. I’ve talked to healthcare CEOs who believe that Obamacare was designed to fail so it could be “fixed” with single-payer.
Everything depends on 2014 and 2016. Literally.

I would love to believe Edward’s analysis, but I’ve learned from sad experience that nobody has ever gone broke betting on the abject gullibility of the American steeple and the ability of the enemedia to lead most of them around by the nose.
You are so correct. I used a similar example in a conversation with a friend: he could butcher and eat a newborn infant on live TV.
The Repubs also put up a few offers with a "delay" function - Boehner even hit TV and said it was only fair since corporations got the delay.
At this point if they don't delay it, it will utterly collapse. I will never, never log onto that site, it is the Marxist list of targets forever more. This healthcare.gov website is BO's campaign list for the rest of his life.
