BRAZIL, Ind. - A western Indiana police department's search dog is off the job after biting an 11-year-old boy's leg during a demonstration inside the county courthouse.

Brazil police chief Clint McQueen says the boy suffered puncture wounds to his calf when the dog bit him during a mock drug search being done for elementary school students as part of a Red Ribbon Awareness week kick-off event at the Clay County Courthouse.

Judge J. Blaine Akers arranged for K-9 teams to carry out a simulated drug raid, to educate a group of fifth-graders about drug awareness.

A small amount of illegal drugs was planted, and the dog, named Max, began searching the children.

If it were a civilians dog it would be deemed a “vicious animal” and would have to be removed from the city limits or put down. But in our fine country the law does not apply to everyone equally.

I wonder how the judge would feel if the father of the child had immediately pulled his weapon and shot the dog in the head?

I also think the police chief’s parents were trying a bit to hard.

The kid was probably asking for it. Tried to pet the canine officer, or something.

Judge J. Blaine Akers arranged for K-9 teams to carry out a simulated drug raid, to educate a group of fifth-graders about drug awareness.

The simulation was a little too accurate. When real raids go down, innocent people frequently get hurt, and sometimes killed. So the lesson here, kids, is that police can be violent even when they don't 'intend' to be, and even when you are innocent. Learn that lesson well.

how many officers then shot the attacking police dog?!?

can anyone see the double standard here...

we have cops shooting dogs b/c they bark. i am sure nothing happened to the police dog or the handler, at all.

All citizens should be issued firearms so they can shoot any dog that: runs, barks, wags its tail.

This includes police dogs.

There was drug residue on the kid’s clothes? Do you have a source for that?
