In this statement alone he self-identifies as a statist which leads me to believe if he did not vote for Obama he supports Obama’s intended political direction for this country. The issue if he cast a vote for the Liar-in-Chief is moot.
I read that as just a throway line to make himself look more reasonable and balanced before going on to criticize the law, but you are probably right.
