In final Virginia governor debate, Ken Cuccinelli hits Terry McAuliffe hard
Washington Times ^ | Oct 24, 2013 | David Sherfinski

Down in the polls, Republican Kenneth T. Cuccinelli on Thursday launched his sharpest attacks of Virginia’s gubernatorial campaign, accusing Terry McAuliffe of being a liar and of lacking substance while the Democrat said the attorney general’s economic plan would wreck the state’s economy.

The candidates’ third and final debate covered little new ground but was marked by increasingly sharp exchanges, with Mr. Cuccinelli saying that being in favor of jobs and education is all well and good, but that talking is different from laying out a plan.

“They’re not plans. I like those, too. I like education — I like puppies. But I don’t bring a puppy home if I don’t have a plan for how I’m going to deal with that puppy,” he said to laughter from the crowd at the Squires Student Center at Virginia Tech. “He’s all puppy and no plan.”

Breaking from normal debate protocol, Mr. Cuccinelli at one point tried to put Mr. McAuliffe on the spot, yielding 30 seconds of his time and daring his opponent to name just one “government efficiency” he would use to pay for his priorities.

A more recent poll has it within the margin of error.

That sounds good. I haven't followed this race. How's Cuccinelli come across as a candidate IYO?

I’m not in Virginia, but would vote for him over McAuliffe any day of the week if I could.

Pubs need to turn out the vote. It WOULD be an awesome boost right now should Cuccinelli win.

He served 3 (I think) terms as a state senator before being elected 4 years ago as our Attorney General. In my view, personality-wise he’s more AG-ish and less Governor-ish in this media age but if elected, he will be an outstanding Governor.

I am a born and raised Virginian. One of my prized possessions is a photo of my father shaking hands with President Nixon and Gov. Linwood Holton. Virginia at large is now being controlled by the D.C. suburbs, Richmond, and Norfolk area. Lots of members of the FSA and the libs that live in Arlington-FFX-Alexandria. The rest of the state is mainly red, but there are so many in the urban areas they wag the dog. I live in Lowdown (Loudoun) County that is turning purple and is about one more sub-division away from turning blue. There are at least four generations of my family buried here. But I’m about one more tax increase or a Gov. Macrat administration from leaving. And it breaks my heart.

I sent him a few bucks. My state is lost, maybe we can save Virginia.

If we do that it will be to Wyoming. Even if McAwful wins the state legislature is still republican, and I just applied for my CCW shall issue permit, non Sodomite marriage, lower taxes, I don’t have to get a license for my AR/SCAR...I still think it’s better off than Merryland.

BTW, I scared off a huge Blue Heron walking around in the backyard looking for a Koi snack. How it landed back there with all the vegetation is crazy.

So he’s not the best candidate for the lofo’s. (I am so sick of lofo’s influence on elections.)

Hope the base is fired up then. We need more conservative governors to help turn the tide in this country.

Get used to Blue Heron and White Egret; they’re coming for your fish. $5,000 fine and prison if you get caught. SSS or shoot overhead to scare ‘em away. Rubber snakes work for a few weeks.

I’m headed to Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Dakotas or British Vancouver. Want to buy my safe and firearms, Class IIIs too? Heh.

God please save us from fools like McCauliffe and the democrats that are ignorant enough to vote for them.

HUH? Cuccinelli’s not the best candidate? Of course he is! I certainly didn’t mean to convey that idea. the GOP Cuccinelli is just not as glitzy-media personality-type; he’s sort of like a law professor. The Dem is that certain type of flashy liberal likes. Dems are all about style; we’re about substance. The Dem in this race appeals to that. Cuccinelli is an outstanding candidate. :^)

Breaks my heart, too. And in the last few election cycles, the rural heartland of our beautiful Virginia just doesn’t show up in the numbers necessary to counteract the liberal moving here from New England taking up residence in the DC suburbs.

This is very good news!

Gov. Jindal will draw lots of support for Ken and attract a massive crowd to the rally in Bristow. More importantly, it creates huge momentum for Ken going into Election Day.
