How Washington’s “Crucifixion” Of Ted Cruz Made Him A Tea Party Saint In Iowa
buzzfeed.com ^ | 10/27/2013 | McKay Coppins

Posted on 10/27/2013 6:22:52 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

As an audience of 600 Republicans awaited the arrival of Sen. Ted Cruz Friday night at the Iowa Events Center, conservative Christian activist Steve Scheffler came to the podium to give thanks to God for the Tea Party savior — and plead for more principled conservative leaders like him willing to “be crucified for their belief system.”

The ballroom full of amens that followed went a long way toward explaining why Cruz — fresh off a failed crusade to dismantle Obamacare that resulted in a 16-day government shutdown and a political disaster for his party — has been greeted with such adoration by Tea Party crowds in recent days.

In Cruz, conservatives have found something better than a champion for their cause or a defender of their values. They’ve found a martyr.

Indeed, since the government shutdown, establishment Republicans have done little to conceal their frustration with Cruz and the “kamikaze caucus,” who have fielded pointed criticism from the likes of Sens. John McCain, Lindsey Graham, and Orrin Hatch. But in the eyes of the Tea Party, the onslaught has only made Cruz seem more heroic.

“Every time one of these guys attacks him, it’s good for him,” said one Iowa Republican operative. “He’s like a superhero. The more bullets that get shot at him, the bigger and stronger he gets.”

The old timers need to be replaced with more people like Cruz.
We don’t send Republicans to Congress to kiss Harry Reid’s ass, but to kick it.

It’s time they realized this.

The Crucifixion metaphor is overused, and it also waters down the real Crucifixion hero of humanity, Jesus Christ.

The homosexuals said that Matthew Sheppard (who we now know was a Meth-head and his killers were fellow dealers) was "crucified" on a fence.

Please.

Agreed.

That said, if I ever post an article, and that’s what the article says, that’s what I’m posting.

To do otherwise would be dishonest, and dishonoring to the Crucified and Risen Lord.

Cruz showed America how bad Obamacare really is. And now it's happening just like he said:

Over 1 Million people have lost their Health Insurance due to Obamacare. How? - their low cost insurance went away due to Obamacare regulations.

Hundreds of Thousands are losing their jobs or being paid less. Obamacare starts at 30 hours per week. What did you think would happen when more burdens were put on business? Did you think they would hire people? Naught!

Small Business are shutting down due to Obamacare. Not being able to afford to pay the required Insurance, they simply had to SHUTDOWN - putting ALL THERE WORKERS OUT OF BUSINESS.

Liberal/Progressives - Did you think they would hire instead?

Cruz was the only one willing to stand in the breach to this Governmental Tyranny. He has my families vote and I will campaign for him gladly in my state though I have never campaigned for anyone before.

I think he alone has the balls to get kick Obamacare and the Democrats butt. John McCain and the Republican leadership certainly doesn't.

The 1 million Americans that have lost their health insurance is only a drop in the bucket. More and more will be losing their insurance as this thing progresses.

I have friends in business and they are pulling their hair out trying to stay ahead of what is happening.

he didnt stand at the podium like everyone else- including Grassley. When he got to the stage he pushed down the mic and started talking from beside/around the podium.

Absolutely correct, the 1 million is only the tip of the iceberg from three of the states reporting. This is from Insurers reporting as the government, certainly, doesn't want folks to know.

And if we don't post the exact title, we are breaking posting rules. So you are 100% correct.

off a failed crusade to dismantle Obamacare that resulted in a 16-day government shutdown and a political disaster for his party

This is bogus, if anything it helped his party. Now, when everyone is wishing he'd succeeded in defunding Obamacare, most think he was on the right track.

Talking points, propaganda, whatever.

I agree. But there is something good from it. People realize that to get attention they can attempt to bring their issue onto a level of our Savior. They can’t but they try. What this tells me is while publicly they may turn their back on him, deep down they recognize the sacrifice he made is still the benchmark for all mankind.

We've grown to trust MSM hatred.

The more the New York Times and their sycophant newspaper follower hate one of our people, the most we know we can trust that person.

Attacks on conservative politicians are becoming more and more vicious, and they’re a good measure of how effective the left perceives the person to be. The more Wolf Blitzer and Chris Matthews complain, the better the candidate. The content of their attacks is not nearly as important as the source. Their shrill, vitriolic rhetoric is a direct measure of their fear.

Goofy, Mitt-bott, Newsweak reporting kid McKay Coppins calls Cruz a matyr...

They’ve found a martyr.

Yet in the very same article he shows evidence that Cruz is not metaphorically dying but instead getting bigger and stronger.

“He’s like a superhero. The more bullets that get shot at him, the bigger and stronger he gets.”
