Four Mississippi teenagers have been charged with murder in the killing of a beloved World War II veteran who gained local fame for his home-cooked hot tamales.
The long and lustrous life of Lawrence “Shine” Thornton, 87, was celebrated last week during a ceremony at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Following the ceremony, Thornton was buried with military honors at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Thornton died Oct. 20, succumbing to the injuries he sustained after four teenagers "pushed him down and stole his wallet," during an apparent mugging that occurred in the late-afternoon two days earlier in the driveway of his long-time Greenville home.

Give me a break. I've been around all races for some 63 years, and the worst I've seen was always from the blacks. Think Watts riots; think Rodney King riots; think Chicago riots, just for a few.
It's a well know fact and even supported by clear-thinking black pundits that the black race commits more crime disproportionally to their percentage of population in America. Glad to see when black pundits espouse their negative opinions about black men leaving their children. If only Sharpton and Jackson would get on board with that.
And yes, there are whites, hispanics, and some asians who also leave their children to grow up without guidance. However, the vast majority of fatherless children come from black men who just don't give a damn.
Also, ever wonder why there are so many hispanic women strolling with children in tow around Los Angeles or other metropolitan areas without a man beside them at all hours? What? They're all at work? If you believe that than you are blind.
FYI, I grew up in a multi-cultural neighborhood in the suburbs of LA. At the time, I thought all were equal in values. I even had a BEST friend that was black.
However, I saw it then; I see it now. I also owned/operated a company near East LA and every day to go get the mail I would see countless pregnant mothers with many toddlers behind them which I knew many to be illegal aliens. They have NO sense of responsibility. Yet, the Dims want to give them all amnesty so more can live on the dole.
Like I said on another thread, not all cultures are equal - deal with it. Without a father to instill basic values, then those male kids go on to become feral creatures. I have no sympathy for these 4 black youths. They made a conscience decision to kill this WWII Vet. Screw them and their "baby-daddies", know matter what the race. Just don't make excuses for them because of race. There is a hierarchy of cultures.
A racist is someone who forms opinions of a group of people based solely on preconceived opinions, and not based on reason or facts. Its hard to be racist against a group for which the facts and personal experience are overwhelming.
That says it all (actually read 50% of murders is low). Are you reading this Mr. Sharpton or Mr. Jackson or Miss Lee? Or do you still want to complain about old history?
DO SOMETHING! Speak out about your men leaving their young boys. Try to instill values in them, even if a part time father. They could grow up to be the next Thomas Sowell, Clarence Thomas, Allen West, Condoleezza Rice, Herman Cain, LL Cool J, Walter E. Williams, 50 Cent, JC Watts, etc.
The opportunity lies within your children's potential. STOP LEAVING THEM!

Yes it is, and getting more difficult every day. I try to treat everyone as an equal no matter the color of their skin or ethnicity. Just to let all know, I also have a major problem with white 1%er motorcycle gang members. They are trash and sell drugs to our kids. I've watched "Gangland" on History or Discovery channels and surprised how bad they have gotten.
The Hell's Angels originally started off as a group of WWII vets who still wanted the rush from combat. They got kicked out the hill-climbing competition called the Gypsy Tour in Hollister, CA (was there for the 50th anniversary of the so called riot) and decided to trash the place (think movie: The Wild Ones). It was no where near as bad as the media said, but that's all it took for them to go further anti-establisment.
I was also in Laughlin, NV when the Hell's Angels and the Mongols had their shootout/brawl at Harrahs some years back. Thankfully, me and the wife were elsewhere. Just glad to see that the majority of Americans no longer think Harley riders with a vest are the bad guys. Kudos to Rolling Thunder and the Patriot Guard Riders (which I'm a member).
I have one for you. Many years ago when my daughter was in the hospital having my grand daughter, the doctor came in her room and was laughing his butt off, I asked what was so funny? He said the woman in the room across the hall had her 3 kid, she was black. He asked her what she was naming the little boy, she said I dussnt know yit, cuase lunch habent come, he said what does lunch have to do with it,she replied that she hast ta see wut color de jello is. He said what do you mean, she said Iyes name my kids by the color of the jello, so 1st kid is Lemanjello, 2nd kid is cheranjello, when her lunch came she looked at her tray and told the doctor the babies name was lemanjello. How’s that for naming a kid.
Yup, a great buddy and had my back in an after school fight because the bully always had his entourage beside him. Loss that one with a black eye but that was when teenagers fought until one said "give". The eye was killing me (talk about a "shiner" later) so I said "give". However, it was a fair fight because Daryl was there to keep the other sh*theads off me.
And like many fights of that day, the bully never bothered me again because he knew I would fight back and never knew if his smaller opponent could get off a good shot. Now, it's about killing someone for the slightest reason. There is no longer any honor in a simple yard boxing match.
