The feminization is real. More than seventy-five percent of teachers are women; in New York state, over ninety percent of elementary school teachers are women

The author is trying to make this sound like some new-fangled feminist innovation. I am willing to bet that women were the overwhelming majority of elementary school teachers throughout the 20th Century.
