Oh Republicans will somehow get the blame. But don’t forget that another goal in this fustercluck is to eliminate private insurers. Premiums are increasing because of the “comprehensive coverage” mandates. They will blubber about “greedy” insurance companies “gouging” consumers so we’ll naturally need gubmint to come to our rescue and provide “affordable” single-payor programs.

The stand alone part of the website is the easy part. But even if you fix that, so it is running smoothly internally, its job is to verify the data in the account created by the sucker user, display the options available to the sucker user, allow the sucker user to select an option, then transmit that data to the insurance company selected.
That is the hard part. Meshing seamlessly, with a gazillion other government computer systems, from the IRS, to DOD, to Homeland Security, to Social Security, to the 50 odd medicaid programs of the states, DC, and such, which were built at different times, to different specs, using different languages. That involves not only creating the Obama Care website, but writing code to modify every single one of those computer systems, plus of course all of the insurance company systems. Keeping in mind that in addition to the antiquated nature of many of these systems, they have to be modified by the the company that won the contract to do the computer work for that particular state, or agency.
BO knew Obama Care would be unpopular with a lot of people, so he delayed most of the rules and regulations until after the polls closed last year. That did not leave anything like enough time. When the Obama Care website programmers find an error in how their website interacts with another website, they very often can't fix it until matching coding changes are made by the programmers in charge of that other website. Then both sides have to run tests, and see if the fix worked, and what other, or new bugs are detected after the fix is made to work.
This is going to take a while. There isn't some rumpled genius out there who is going sit at a keyboard with a couple of cases of Mountain Dew and Marlboros, and get this thing running in a week.
