A large explosion followed by heavy gunfire was heard late Monday near the U.S. Embassy in Yemen's capital Sanaa, security officials and residents said.

Obama has issued a statement that he was actually unaware that there was a US embassy in Yemen and is, thus, not in any way responsible for its defense.
