For decades HUAC was used to denigrate the House Committee investigating activities threatening our Republic by labeling those efforts "House Un-American Activities." It was a clever ploy by the CP/USA, 1960s Marxist/Alinsky campus revolutionary rabble, and the MSM.
Most Americans are apolitical, the repetitive use of the pejorative "HUAC" had a major impact. Now I love yanking the Left's chain with that one.
