Sen. David Vitter wants to know which lawmakers are exempting staff from Obamacare
Washington Times ^ | October 31, 2013 | Tom Howell, Jr

Sen. David Vitter wants to put the klieg lights on any member of Congress who decides that certain staff members are not “official,” a maneuver that would exempt the employee from entering a health exchange tied to Obamacare as mandated by the 2010 law.

Mr. Vitter, Louisiana Republican, filed the Show Your Exemption Act on Thursday to force lawmakers to reveal how they designate each of their staffers.

Sen. Chuck Grassley, Iowa Republican, wrote an amendment to the Affordable Care Act that placed members of Congress and their staffs in the state-based insurance markets, or exchanges, set up by the 2010 law.

But a rule issued by the Office of Personnel Management says members of Congress are best equipped to say which members are official, meaning they enter the D.C. small-business exchange, or non-official, meaning they stay on the Federal Employee Health Benefits program.

“For members to use this illegal loophole so that some staff stay off the exchanges altogether is outrageous. It flies in the face of the exact language of Obamacare,” Mr. Vitter said. “If these staffers aren’t ‘official’, then the taxpayer shouldn’t pay for their salaries or office support or anything else.”...............

Little Dick Trumka boasted to his communist pals that he and his thugs had “rammed” ObamaCare down our throats. I want to know why he and his communist thugs are exempted from this communist ObamaCare fiasco!

Easy.
All staffers that work for Democrats are exempt.
All staffers that work for Republicans are not exempt.
All staffers that work for Independents are exempt if their bosses vote along with the Democrats, otherwise they are not exempt.
All SCOTUS staffers that work for Justice John Roberts are exempt for life and they get free healthcare for life.

Wait - they have to play by the rules they passed for the little people? Guess they should have read them first.

Its interesting how similar the Democrats are to the leaders of the Soviet Union. The Soviets leaders lived in luxury while the masses didn’t. The Democrat politicians have great health insurance while the masses are booted off their insurance.

I would hope that some lawyer type, a lot smarter than me, can detail where in the US Constitution does it allow a politician to unilaterally exempt HIS/HER staff from the law of the land. And I would hope that said, lawyer type, is drafting the lawsuit as I type.

Wasn’t there a law passed back in ‘05 that stated the Congress could no longer exempt themselves from anything? I think I remember reading something about it a month or so ago. Any help?

My bad.....1995...Congressional Accountability Act

How come this isn’t being used as a basis to force those scumbags onto the exchanges?
