Cuccinelli’s schedule packed, McAuliffe’s light in closing days of Va. governor’s race

Ken Cuccinelli II is planning a frenetic schedule with a handful of big-name Republican surrogates as the race for Virginia governor draws to a close. Terry McAuliffe, by contrast, is spending somewhat less time in the public eye aside from a pair of high-profile events.

The differing strategies illustrate the pecking order as the hard-fought contest nears its end. Cuccinelli (R) is consistently trailing in the polls and can’t afford much of an advertising presence on the airwaves, so he’s counting on word-of-mouth and media coverage from live appearances to stay afloat.

McAuliffe (D) is nursing a lead and has the cash to keep up a steady drumbeat of ads, giving him little incentive to expose himself to the press more than necessary.

Cuccinelli is planning to do multiple daily events around the state from Friday through Tuesday. His itinerary includes events Saturday in Spotsylvania and Prince William counties with Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) and appearances in Warrenton and Culpeper Monday with Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.). And former representative Ron Paul (R-Tex.) will join Cuccinelli in Richmond on Monday evening.

McAuliffe’s campaign has said that he will appear at a rally with President Obama on Sunday afternoon at Washington-Lee High School in Arlington, and he will join forces with Vice President Biden on Monday morning in Annandale to kick off a day of canvassing.

McAuliffe is in hiding from the media. We are seeing excellent momentum. Just in one day yesterday the Cuccinelli campaign received over 132k in individual donations. We can win this. What is needed is anyone who has a platform to do so to write pieces that will rally conservatives to the polls and attack McAuliffes lies but the biggest thing we need is volunteers whether it be to make calls at a campaign office, go door to door in GOTV, or working at the polls on election day. Also any donations would be welcome. This election is going to be about turnout. Don't be an arm chair patriot help lead the charge to defeat McAuliffe and the Obama Clinton machine!

man I would cry with happiness if Cuccinelli pulled off the ultimate tortoise and hare comeback here. McAuliffe is the quintessential hare napping under a tree while Cuccinelli is the tortoise plodding ahead while fighting off the pack of jaguars and eagles that is the MSM looking slaughter and eat him for lunch. I guess prayers up that we get a perfect fable ending here.

That was my thinking too, but this insurance thing is pretty huge. I’m on candy duty tonight (my little girl is dressed as a FedEx box!) and just saw neighbor on the left. He has (had) CareFirst too, and also got the letter. I’ve never met the wife but he says she was flipping out.
