Maher's excuse for Obama's Obamacare lie also applies to his 'gun control' lies
St. Louis Gun Rights Examiner ^ | 31 October, 2013 | Kurt Hofmann

Posted on 11/02/2013 6:29:05 AM PDT by marktwain

On Tuesday, ultra-"progressive," anti-Second Amendment, anti-NRA (and "gun criminal"?) Bill Maher told CNN's Piers Morgan that Obama should not have lied to the American people, as he did with his categorical assertion that people who were happy with their current health insurance plans would not lose them. But, as Politico notes, he appears willing to cut Obama some slack, over what he evidently believes are extenuating circumstances:

But Maher acknowledged that Obama faced a tough battle with the GOP to pass the Affordable Care Act.

“Can you imagine what it would be like if he said, ‘Yeah, some people you’re rates are going to go up.’ … If they had said that, they might have lost the whole thing,” Maher said.

In essence, while expressing his disapproval of Obama's mendacity, Maher is clearly willing to at least partially excuse it, because the lie was probably necessary to advance an agenda that does meet with Maher's approval.

Come to think of it, there is, as noted above, another agenda of which Maher approves, and it could be argued that Obama has told more lies in the interests of advancing that one than he did in ramrodding Obamacare's narrow passage in Congress.

For example, he claimed that "what works in Chicago may not work in Cheyenne," obviously implying a belief in local autonomy on gun policy, while simultaneously pushing an agenda of nationwide "gun control" laws, that would apply to Chicago and Cheyenne, and everywhere else (and what does he mean by "works in Chicago," anyway?).

He claimed that, "More than 90 percent of the guns recovered in Mexico come from the United States"--a statement not even remotely true.

The "progressives" have always justified lying to advance their agenda. It is what they do, what they are. If it advances the agenda, it is good. If it does not, it is bad. That is their only moral standard, and it explains the mass murders of the 20th century, from Hitler's form of "progressivism" to Cambodia's and Mao's.

They lie to advance their agenda and do so without one GOP vote.

Then they whine about the fact that half the people in this country oppose it.

What do they expect?

If majority support was there in the first place, they wouldn’t have to lie and there would be GOP votes.

Problem with Maher’s excuse is that if Obama is lying about Obamacare to get it past, what else is he lying about. Yesterday at a rally Obama ended a sentence with, “...and that's the truth.” Already his credibility has eroded to such a point that he has to tell people when he's telling the truth.

Always remember the difference between a liberal and a Conservative:

A Conservative bases his politics on his principles/morals

A liberal bases his principles/morals on his politics (in other-words the end justifies the means)

I call BS. Not a single GOP vote was needed to pass obamacare.

Marxist, leftists, whatever you want to call them have a creed which maybe described as follows:

There are two forms of lying to non-believers that are permitted under certain circumstances, taqiyya and kitman. These circumstances are typically those that advance the cause Islam - in some cases by gaining the trust of non-believers in order to draw out their vulnerability and defeat them.

Just substitute the word "Marxism" for the word "islam".

He’s just saying what we already know. The reason a liar tells a lie is that he wants you to rely on the mistrepresentation of fact, to his benefit and to your detriment.
For any union members who got this far, that means, “If I hadn’t lied to you, you wouldn’t have gone along with what I’m proposing.”
Mayer comes right out and says it, as if that’s an explanation and not an admission.

Sounds like Muslim's believe that it is perfectly fine to lie to an infidel. Same mindset.

If obama is speaking, I believe he's lying. If he's claiming "that's the truth" then I know he's lying.

“Can you imagine what it would be like if he said, ‘Yeah, some people you’re rates are going to go up.’ … If they had said that, they might have lost the whole thing,” Maher said.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the entire leftist ethos summed up in one sentence. The end justifies the means. If lies assure victory, lie. The only thing worth having is the crown, regardless of what it takes to get there.

That being not only the case, but an openly admitted cornerstone of the liberal ideology, how can anyone believe ANYTHING liberals say? BY THEIR OWN ADMISSION, THEY ARE NOTHING BUT LIARS!!!!

Maher is pretty much a POS. Alright, since he can’t find racism, he has to pretty much redefine it. He recently gave his BS rant on how thug is the real N-word. Really? Thug refers to a gang heavy hitter who makes a brutal example out of people, derived from the Hindu cult known as Thugee. Maher can at least, claiming to be unconditionally rational, show some background knowledge of what he is talking about. Note to Bill: Thug refers to an occupation, not a race.
